Helcim is searching for a full-time experienced Financial Analyst to join our finance team. As a financial and data enthusiast, you will supplement our team of 7 through preparation and maintenance of accounting entries and corresponding working papers. This position will contribute to the maintenance, integrity and consistency of Helcim’s financial records.

This role will be ever changing and you will be successful in this role if you are flexible, open-minded and proactive, while being extremely detail oriented and capable of helping create processes for a fast-growing company.

Responsibilities:

  • Be a key contributor to period-end close processes for multiple entities
  • Prepare journal entries and associated working papers
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts and accounting records in Xero
  • Perform FSLI analysis
  • Sort, manipulate and organize large sets of data
  • Create and maintain complex spreadsheets, models and dashboards
  • Assist in preparing year-end audit documentation for external auditors
  • Assessing current accounting operations and controls, offer recommendations for improvement and implement new processes and policies
  • Assist with other finance duties as necessary

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of relevant accounting experience is mandatory
  • Bachelor of Commerce or Business Administration with a major in Accounting or Finance
  • A designated Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) or candidate would be an asset
  • Highly proficient in advance Excel functions and formulas, and proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Drive and Xero would be an asset
  • Experience with SQL
  • Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, ASPE knowledge is an asset
  • Intuitive, self-motivated and positive
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

Helcim uses a hybrid work structure where team members can work 3 days in the Calgary office (Monday/Wednesday/Friday) and 2 days (Tuesday/Thursday) at home.
