Who you are:

You’re driven by purpose and motivated by work that matters. You’re looking for more than a role, you want to be part of a growing, forward-thinking company solving real-world challenges to improve how farming works, today and for the future.

The Operations Controller ensures that revenue, inventory, and cost information is accurate, timely, and reflective of underlying business activity. The role applies strong accounting judgment and operational understanding to maintain high-quality financial inputs, support reliable reporting, and enables clear analysis of operational performance.

The Operations Controller brings a detailed understanding of the company’s commercial models, cost structures, and inventory flows, and uses that understanding to support leadership through performance analysis, variance investigation, and identification of areas requiring attention. The focus is on financial integrity, consistency, and control, while providing practical insight that helps leadership interpret results and understand operational outcomes.

The role works closely with finance, sales, supply chain and field operations teams to maintain effective processes, strong documentation, and scalable controls across operational finance.

What you will do:

  • Performance & Analytical Insights: Understand operational results to ensure revenue, costs, margins, and inventory impacts are appropriately reflected in the financial statements. Ensure operational activity aligns with accounting outcomes, ensuring that reported results accurately represent underlying business performance. Provide clear, fact-based analysis to support interpretation of financial results, with a focus on accuracy, consistency, and financial integrity.
  • Operational Accounting: Oversee the financial integrity of core operational cycles, including Order-to-Cash (accounts receivable, collections, billing, and revenue), Procure-to-Pay (accounts payable, accruals, and cost recognition), and inventory management (inventory & asset integrity, COGS, and other items). Ensure transactions are complete, accurate, and aligned with accounting policies, and that related balance sheet and income statement impacts are well understood and properly reflected.
  • Inventory Management: Develop and maintain an inventory management strategy to allow management to understand performance and make data driven decisions.
  • Compliance: Ensure Sales & Use Tax and any other compliance requirements are strictly adhered to.
  • Leadership & Team Management: Provide overall leadership of the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable & Revenue, and Inventory teams. Establish clear expectations, ensure accountability, and maintain consistent execution across core operational finance processes. Guide and support the team through structured oversight, regular feedback, and practical coaching, ensuring continuity, performance discipline, and professional growth during the interim period.
  • Business Enablement: Drive efficiency improvements including implementation, automation and/or integration of business tools and documentation of policies and procedures, as well as develop and maintain an inventory management strategy to allow management to understand performance and make data driven decisions.

We want you to succeed so you will need:

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including significant exposure to operational accounting in a manufacturing or inventory-intensive environment
  • Direct experience overseeing inventory valuation, cost accounting, and related balance sheet controls
  • A resilient, flexible, solution oriented approach
  • Ability to build structure, priorities and clarity in evolving environments
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Self-directed, highly motivated and energetic
  • High degree of accountability with strong commitment to quality and delivering on time
  • Comfortable as an individual contributor, collaborative team member and a leader
  • Qualified CPA/CMA

Nice to have:

  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics or comparable ERP systems
  • A track record of improving productivity that drive efficiencies and business performance
  • Strong proficiency Microsoft Excel and Google Workspace

Salary range: $130,000 to $140,000 per year

We publish a salary range to provide transparency and represent the full growth potential of the role; as a result, offers are made based on demonstrated mastery and experience and generally fall near the midpoint.

This is a temporary, full-time role covering a leave of absence through May 2027.

Why this is the opportunity for you:
