About the Role:

Manufacturing Technician (Contract)

About the Role

IMAX is seeking a Manufacturing Technician to join our manufacturing team. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Manufacturing, this role is ideal for a technically trained individual who enjoys applying their academic knowledge in a hands-on production environment.

The successful candidate will have a strong educational background in electronics, electrical, or mechatronics engineering technology, combined with a naturally inquisitive mindset and attention to detail. In this role, you will assemble, integrate, and test precision components used in IMAX projection systems and audio rack assemblies, contributing directly to the production of world-class cinema technology.

This is a contract position through September 2026.

What You’ll Do

• Perform all work in full compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Documentation Practices (GDP), and established Safe Work Procedures
• Assemble and test mechanical, and electrical components and sub-systems used in IMAX projection systems
• Assemble, integrate, and test audio rack electrical assemblies and related sub-systems
• Interpret and follow engineering drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and assembly documentation
• Utilize precision hand tools and shop equipment including drills, taps, torque tools, and measurement instruments
• Support production builds while maintaining high standards of quality, accuracy, and traceability
• Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure build integrity and product performance

Required Education & Qualifications

• Diploma or Advanced Diploma from a recognized post-secondary Technician or Technologist program in one of the following disciplines:
  • Electronics Engineering Technology
  • Electrical Engineering Technology
  • Mechatronics Engineering Technology
• Demonstrated understanding of electrical and electronic fundamentals, including schematic interpretation and basic circuit functionality
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, assembly documentation, and technical specifications
• Proficiency with computers and basic Microsoft Office applications
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong mechanical aptitude.

Assets / Preferred Experience

• Previous manufacturing or production assembly experience
• Familiarity with optical, electro-mechanical, or precision electronic assemblies

Hiring Range / Échelle salariale à l’embauche :

$43,405.00 / 43.405,00$ - $54,256.00 / 54.256,00$ (per year / par an) Final pay within this range will be determined based on experience, skills, internal equity, and the geographic location of the role.
