Job Description:

The Vice President, Domestic Distribution will lead IMAX’s North American film distribution strategy and execution, overseeing relationships with studios and exhibitors to maximize screen utilization, box office revenue, and IMAX’s market presence. This role requires a proven leader with deep knowledge of the U.S. and Canadian exhibition landscape, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to partner cross-functionally to deliver impactful results.

Primary Responsibilities

Regional Distribution Leadership

  • Lead all aspects of IMAX film distribution across North America, ensuring alignment with global strategies while tailoring to regional market dynamics.

  • Manage relationships with domestic distributors and exhibitors to secure optimal film bookings and maximize IMAX screen utilization.

Studio & Exhibitor Relations

  • Negotiate North American distribution agreements and release strategies with studio partners.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all exhibitor partners across the U.S. and Canada, fostering strong partnerships to enhance IMAX’s domestic footprint and drive box office revenue.

Box Office Analysis & Forecasting

  • Contribute to the ongoing analysis, forecasting, and reporting of North American IMAX box office performance.

  • Provide market intelligence and competitive benchmarking to inform programming, release schedules, and strategic planning.

Contract & Licensing Oversight

  • Direct and manage the negotiation, execution, and administration of domestic licensing and distribution contracts.

Budget & Revenue Management

  • Prepare and manage domestic distribution budgets, forecasts, and revenue targets in collaboration with Finance.

  • Track performance against KPIs and recommend adjustments to maximize profitability.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Film Production, Film Operations, Post-Production, and Marketing teams to ensure timely and high-quality deliverables for North American releases.

  • Provide analytical and strategic support to Theatre Sales and Development, Affiliate Services, and Business Affairs within the domestic market.

  • Work closely with Alternative Content, Local Language, and Docs teams to ensure programming is aligned, coordinated, and integrated with domestic programming priorities for studios and exhibition.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Manage and mentor a team of distribution professionals focused on the domestic market.

  • Set performance objectives and provide professional growth opportunities.

  • Foster a culture of data-driven decision-making, accountability, creativity, and collaboration across the North American distribution function.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 12+ years of experience in film distribution, exhibition, or entertainment business development, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.

  • Deep knowledge of the North American exhibition landscape and studio relationships.

  • Strong financial acumen and experience managing budgets and revenue forecasts.

  • Proven track record of negotiation and contract management.

  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively across global, cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or related advanced degree preferred.

Compensation:

198,898.00 - 225,000.00
