About the Role

IMAX is looking for a Mastering Technician to join our growing Feature Mastering team. The schedule for the role is Tuesday – Saturday, 02:00 pm – 11:00 pm, PT, fully in-person at our Playa Vista office. We’re searching for someone who can master and quality check the Digital Cinema Packages (DCPs) that are distributed to IMAX theaters worldwide, including anything from the original version DCP that is distributed domestically to dubbed and subtitle DCPs which are distributed to IMAX’s many international markets. Our team masters on average a few hundred unique DCPs a month, so someone familiar with a similarly paced environment will have the most success in the position.

What You’ll Do:

  • Mastering DCPs and their localized subtitled or dubbed versions for both domestic and international markets

  • Perform quality checks on mastered DCPs to ensure they have all required elements and uphold the IMAX standard, including subtitles, dubbed audio, accessibility tracks, or localized picture

  • Support our KDM and Customer Service department during weekend shifts and during the week as needed by fielding emails and phone calls, distributing KDMs, and assisting in the troubleshooting and resolution of KDM and DCP related issues experienced at any of IMAX’s theaters worldwide

What You’ll Need:

  • Experience and understanding of Quality Control to detect variations from IMAX’s high quality and industry standards

  • Ability to manage, consolidate, and prioritize a large amount of data

  • Comfortability with a flexible schedule, overtime when necessary, weekend availability, and sometimes holiday availability

Nice to Have:

  • Familiarity with post-production environments, including the DI (digital intermediate) process including video editing, video compression & container formats, theatrical aspect ratios, and coloring, as well as basic knowledge of audio workflows and data management

  • Customer service skills with the ability to work with studio or theater clients to resolve any emergency KDM or DCP issues

  • Experience with digital cinema mastering is a plus

  • Experience with Linux, Bash & shell scripting, or Python is also a plus

  • Experience with the SMPTE 428-7 subtitle standard is a plus

Compensation:

23.38 - 28.00
