We're searching for an experienced and passionate professional to lead our Cybersecurity team in the role of Manager of Cybersecurity - reporting to the CTO. As the Manager of Cybersecurity, you will lead our efforts in safeguarding our systems, data, and merchant information. Our ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of cybersecurity best practices, emerging threats, and possess a strategic mindset to ensure the continuous improvement of our security posture. As the Manager of Cybersecurity, it’s your role to set the vision and direction to inspire and drive continuous improvement of cyber security policies, standards and procedures. You’ll utilize your depth of technical and security expertise, as well as comprehensive understanding processes and business operations, to ensure the security infrastructure across Helcim.

What you’ll do:

  • Provide direction and leadership for the cybersecurity team.
  • Identify, assess, and prioritize cybersecurity risks. Develop and implement effective risk mitigation strategies and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Oversee incident response plans and lead the investigation and resolution of security incidents, working collaboratively with internal teams and external partners.
  • Drive the design and implementation of robust security architectures for both internal and merchants-facing systems.
  • Foster a culture of security awareness and responsibility across the organization through comprehensive security awareness programs to educate employees on security best practices and promote a security-conscious culture.
  • Manage relationships with third-party security vendors and assess the security posture of external partners.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product, and legal, to integrate security measures into the development lifecycle and ensure security is a priority across the organization.
  • Stay informed about the latest cybersecurity trends and technologies.

Who you are:

  • Proven experience as a technology leader in a high-growth, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong technical background with a deep understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices.
  • Experience with cloud security, application security, network security, and data protection.
  • Strong knowledge of industry regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated success in recruiting, developing, and managing high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex security concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • A track record of delivering complex, mission-critical projects on time and within budget.
  • Experience in the fintech or payments industry is a plus.
  • Relevant certifications are highly desirable.

Join Our Team:


Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada and be located in Calgary for this position. Helcim uses a hybrid work structure where team members can work 3 days in the Calgary office (Monday/Wednesday/Friday) and 2 days (Tuesday/Thursday) at home.
