Position Overview

Calian is seeking a Project Communications Officer to assist our client with the facilitation of their project.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement communication plans for geographically dispersed DND/CAF organizations holding equipment of interest to the project.
  • Once a specific base or area has been identified the Communications Officer will establish and build relationships with local DND/CAF personnel identified as the Office of Primary Interest (OPI).
  • Coordinate with the local OPIs to establish available dates for visits, security clearances, site access, access to equipment, visit requests, and supporting personnel requirements.
  • Work extensively with the internal Calian team to confirm team visits, site information schedule, and hire personnel requirements to support the project.
  • Oversee the marking operations and assessments for your given geographic location, reporting back any issues to the appropriate internal Calian team
  • Support three to five geographically dispersed Calian teams as they serial mark equipment/fabricate tags.
  • Create communications support materials.
  • Express and exchange information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ensure information is communicated to the appropriate people in a timely manner.
  • Determine target audiences to better develop messages.
  • Identify and determine communications impediments and barriers.
  • Provide suggestions on measures to improve the communications process.

Qualifications

  • Must have a minimum 36 months of experience performing the following activities:

1- Planning, researching, modifying, assisting, writing and/or reviewing memos, manuals, and other non-journalistic articles with conformance to established standards

2- Developing and implementing communication strategies and plans

3- Providing advice on matters relating to policy/program development approaches or options and communications planning alternatives (internal or external)

  • Must have successfully completed a University degree (in any field) or College diploma (in any field)
  • Must have demonstrated experience working with the Canadian Armed Forces, including familiarity with military operations, structure, and defence program environments, enabling effective collaboration within CAF-led projects and initiatives

Additional Requirements

  • Must be bilingual in both French and English
  • Must be familiar with internal DND communications
  • Must be able to obtain a Government Security Clearance at the Secret level
