Calian is proud to continue a long-standing contractual relationship with the Department of National Defence (DND) to provide healthcare services to the Canadian Armed Forces. Through the Health Care Provider Contract, Calian employs health care professionals across Canada who are integral to supporting the health and wellbeing of our military members.

Position Overview

Calian is seeking to hire a full time RPN to work at the Canadian Force Recruiting Centre in Winnipeg. You will play a key role in the military selection process, specifically by assessing the medical fitness of applicants

Hours are Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 4pm.

Responsibilities

Perform duties in accordance with the Recruit Medical National Advisor (RMNA)/ Recruit Medical Office (RMO) section at D Med Pol and daily operating procedures within the CFRC.

Responsible for completing Parts 1 and 2 of medical examinations, in accordance with RMNA/RMO directions, CFP 154 (updates required), D Med Pol Policies. RMNA to provide directions on Part 1&2 based on priorities and recruiting objectives.

Collect a detailed medical history based on positive answers on the medical questionnaire.

Interpret medical information forms received from civilian HCPs, and review laboratory results for completeness.

Complete focused physical examinations if clinically indicated.

Ensure file completeness prior to submission to RMO (Part 1&2, MIFs and reports if any) via CFHIS

Respond professionally and competently to applicants’ questions related to the medical examination. BPT to counsel on best practice forward for applicant’s process and provide customer service.

Oversee work to ensure CFRC productivity, in collaboration with the Det Staff maximise medical resources appropriately

Complete a Recruit Medical Part 1&2 while reviewing positive declarations from the DND 4585 form.

Interact with other LPNs and Medics from other CFRCs to enable interoperability, collaborate with Regional Reps and RMNA.

Be proficient with recruiting management systems and CAF Health Information System. Be well versed in personal health information and privacy act.

Manage medical files efficiently to increase productivity and achieve the annual strategic intake plan to meet CAF’s recruitment objectives.

Be knowledgeable about recruitment policies and directives, general medical standards and guidelines, policies on the management and storage of protected records, and be comfortable applying them.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from a Practical Nursing Program and licensed and in good standing in the province.
  • Current BLS for Heath Provider or CPR Level C Certification
  • 1 year of full-time experience in the last 3 years in nursing practice conducting patient assessment and providing direct nursing care for a broad range of diseases in an adult population in a primary care setting or ambulatory care setting

Additional Requirements

  • You must be able to obtain a Government of Canada Security Clearance (Enhanced Reliability)
