Creative Destruction Lab (CDL) is a nonprofit organization that delivers an objectives-based program for massively scalable, seed-stage, science- and technology-based companies around the world. Our mission is to enhance the commercialization of science for the betterment of humankind.
CDL operates across a global network of sites, programs, and partners. Founded by Professor Ajay Agrawal in 2012 at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management, the program has expanded and now has 16 sites across ten countries: Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Montreal, Halifax, Paris, Madison, Seattle, Estonia, Berlin, Melbourne, College Station, Milan, London, San Sebastian, and Doha.
Position Summary
The Project Manager plays a key role in supporting the planning, coordination, and delivery of projects across CDL-Global. This role is designed to be function-agnostic and may support initiatives spanning operations, programs, technology, partnerships, or special projects.
The Project Manager is responsible for translating goals into clear workplans, coordinating contributors, maintaining project documentation, and supporting day-to-day execution. This role works closely with internal stakeholders to ensure projects move forward in a structured, organized, and timely manner.
Key Responsibilities
Project Coordination & Execution
- Support the development and maintenance of project timelines, workplans, task trackers, and schedules.
- Coordinate inputs across project contributors to ensure progress against milestones.
- Track action items, dependencies, and risks, escalating issues to the project sponsor as needed.
- Support the ongoing cadence of project operations, including follow-ups and next steps.
Documentation & Materials
- Maintain organized project documentation, including meeting notes, decision logs, and reference materials.
- Draft and refine project-related materials such as summaries, briefs, trackers, and status updates.
- Ensure project information is clearly documented and accessible to relevant stakeholders.
Meeting Preparation & Follow-Up
- Assist with preparing agendas, pre-read materials, and meeting packets.
- Coordinate scheduling logistics and ensure materials are prepared in advance.
- Record, synthesize, and distribute meeting notes and follow-up actions.
Stakeholder Coordination
- Serve as a point of coordination between project sponsors and contributors.
- Support clear and timely communication across teams involved in assigned projects.
- Uphold CDL’s standards for professionalism, accuracy, and confidentiality in all interactions.
General Project Support
- Assist with market research, information gathering, or benchmarking to support project needs.
- Adapt to different project contexts, tools, and working styles across CDL initiatives.
- Support multiple projects concurrently, as required.
Core Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
- 3+ years of experience in project coordination or project management roles.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Clear written communication skills, with the ability to draft concise, professional materials.
- Comfort working with common productivity and collaboration tools (e.g., Google Workspace, Slack, project trackers).
- Ability to manage time effectively and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Comfortable operating in fast-paced, evolving environments.

- Experience working in distributed or remote teams is an asset.
