VP of Product & Monetization

The Vice President of Product & Monetization is the general manager of Big Viking Games’ live portfolio.
You own the commercial performance, product strategy, and operational health of our games. This role blends P&L accountability, live operations mastery, and cross-functional leadership. You will balance near-term revenue optimization with long-term product and technical sustainability.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who has personally run live games as a business.
Core Responsibilities
Business Ownership and Executive Leadership
- Own full P&L responsibility across the portfolio, including revenue targets, OpEx, and margins
- Lead annual and quarterly planning, budgeting, and forecasting
- Serve as the primary product and operations voice to the CEO and Board
- Prepare and present Monthly Business Reviews (MBRs), including performance trends, risks, and trade-offs
- Conduct ongoing market and competitor analysis to inform strategy
Product Strategy and Live Operations
- Define and maintain product strategy and long-term roadmap aligned to business goals
- Personally oversee live ops cadence, promotional calendars, and feature prioritization
- Direct game economy design, including wallet sizing, inflation control, currency sinks, and offer balance
- Ensure monetization strategies maximize revenue while protecting long-term player trust and retention
- Make clear, decisive calls when trade-offs arise between revenue, retention, and player sentiment
Monetization and Analytics
- Own pricing strategy, offer design, segmentation, and monetization experimentation
- Lead analytics-driven decision-making across DAU, retention, churn, ARPDAU, and LTV
- Drive a disciplined experimentation culture using A/B testing and cohort analysis
- Translate insights into concrete changes to live ops execution and roadmap priorities
Cross-Functional Leadership and Culture
- Lead and develop department heads across Product, Art, Content, QA, Production, LCM, Community, and Support
- Build a high-performance, accountable culture focused on output, quality, and learning
- Resolve conflicts across creative, technical, and commercial priorities
- Hire, mentor, and evaluate leaders with a bias toward ownership and results
- Own performance management and leadership development across all reporting functions, with clear goals and measurable outcomes
Engineering Partnership and Technical Stewardship
- Partner closely with Engineering leadership to balance feature delivery, infrastructure work, and technical debt
- Advocate for necessary migrations and foundational investments without sacrificing business continuity
- Make informed prioritization decisions that protect long-term platform health
Operational Efficiency and AI Enablement
- Drive operational efficiency initiatives across content creation, QA, and production pipelines
- Leverage AI and automation pragmatically to increase throughput, reduce costs, and shorten cycle times
- Focus on measurable impact, not experimentation for its own sake
Player Experience and Brand Stewardship
- Own external-facing KPIs including player satisfaction, engagement, and retention
- Ensure Community and Player Support reinforce product strategy and brand voice
- Oversee lifecycle management to deliver a consistent, high-quality player journey
Required Qualifications (Must Haves)
- Extensive Tech/Software Experience: 8+ years of experience in a technology or software environment.
- Product Leadership: 3+ years in product management or product marketing.
- P&L Ownership: Direct accountability for the Profit and Loss (P&L) of one or more active products.
- Data-Driven Approach: Strong background in analytics, including direct ownership of real-world experimentation.
- Executive Presence: Proven ability to communicate effectively at the highest levels, including with executive leadership, CEOs, and Board members.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Haves)
- Live Operations Expertise: Hands-on experience designing and executing live operations calendars.
- Monetization & Economy: Demonstrated success in developing monetization strategies and managing game economies.
- Resourcefulness: Proven track record of operating successfully in fast-moving, lean, or resource-constrained environments.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams beyond the product function alone.
- Strategic/Financial Background: 3+ years of experience with a top-tier management consulting firm (MBB) or in Investment Banking.
- AI/Automation Focus: Proven use of AI or automation to enhance workflows in content creation, QA, or analytics.
- Portfolio Management: Experience managing multiple live products or a product portfolio.
- Talent & Succession: Track record of building scalable leadership and succession systems.
