What you will do:
We are seeking a Staff Accountant to join our finance team, responsible for key accounting processes in New Zealand, with additional support for Australia and Japan. This role requires a detail-oriented, proactive professional who can manage financial operations, liaise with external partners, and communicate effectively with internal stakeholders.
New Zealand Accounting Operations
- Seek approvals, process invoices, and ensure accurate recording and payments.
- Manage agent commission payments, ensuring timely disbursement.
- Oversee Stripe collections and create subscription accounts as needed.
- Perform accounts receivable (AR) follow-ups to ensure timely collections.
- Manage bank reconciliations and ensure accuracy.
- Support the month-end close process, including reconciliations and journal entries.
- Handle agent communications related to payments, commissions, and finance inquiries.
- Liaise with the accounting firm to ensure compliance and accurate financial reporting.
- Brand Advocacy & Influence: Act as an ambassador for eXp, building credibility and influence within the real estate industry.
Australia & Japan Accounting Support
- Assist with eXp Australia payments, month-end reconciliations, and trust receipting.
- Provide potential support to eXp Japan with daily accounting tasks, ensuring accuracy and adherence to financial standards.
Reporting Structure
- Directly reports to the Australia Controller.
- Works closely with internal teams, agents, and external accounting firms.
How you will grab our attention:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a multi-entity or international environment.
- Strong understanding of general accounting principles, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Experience with agent payments, accounts receivable, and month-end close processes.
- Proficiency in accounting software (Xero, Oracle, or similar is a plus).
- Prior experience working in the real estate industry (REA experience preferred).
- Excellent communication skills to manage agent queries and liaise with external accounting firms.
- Good attitude, adaptability, and flexibility in work arrangements (remote work environment).
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a remote setting.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
