We’re looking for a Team Lead - New Business (BC) to join our growing team at Zensurance. If you’re passionate about leadership, coaching, and the fast-paced world of sales, this is a great opportunity for you.
Reporting to the Practice Leader, you'll play a huge part in growing our revenue, boosting conversion rates, and helping your team move fast without losing quality.
This is a player/coach role. You’ll mentor a team of New Business Brokers to help them hit their goals, and work directly with prospects and underwriters to close deals yourself. Strong sales skills and coaching ability are the absolute core of this position.
The New Business Workflow:
- Qualified Leads: Brokers engage with 15+ warm leads per day.
- Pure Sales Focus: We’ve removed the admin drag. Your brokers focus only on new business; renewals and mid-term changes are handled by separate dedicated teams.
- Speed to Market: In our world, time kills deals. You’ll coach your team to manage a fast-moving pipeline, working with 50+ providers to bind business quickly.
- Tech-Driven: We use a proprietary BMS and advanced quoting tech to deliver the best deals to contractors in real-time.
- Measured Outcomes: Success is data-driven. You’ll be responsible for your team’s GWP, binding ratios, and response times.
Our team operates differently than a traditional brokerage. To lead this team effectively, you’ll need to master and coach to our unique high-velocity model:
Responsibilities:
- Sales Coaching: Be obsessed with the the customer experience. Improve team performance through hands-on coaching, shadow sessions, and actionable feedback.
- Leadership Focus: Be committed to the craft of leadership: delivering tough feedback, conducting 1:1s, and building a high-performing, resilient sales culture.
- Motivation & Inspiration: Keep the energy high. Motivate your team to consistently hit and exceed monthly GWP targets.
- Team Development: Lead daily huddles, coaching sessions, and file audits to ensure we are maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and service.
- Navigating Ambiguity: Use your judgment to help brokers navigate complex contractor risks.
Requirements:
- Industry Experience: 5+ years of insurance experience (commercial insurance experience preferred).
- People Leadership: 3+ years of supervisory experience.
- License: Valid provincial broker's license (RIBO preferred).
- Performance Management: Experience driving team performance.
- Goal Orientation: A hunter mentality with the persistence and agility to meet set targets consistently.
- Execution & Detail: High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders in a high-pressure environment.
- Self-Development: A dedication to owning your own growth and staying ahead of industry trends.
