About the Team
The Trade Desk team is at the backbone of our investment products, ensuring that client trades are executed efficiently and we are operating optimally. We are a group of maker-owners who manage billions of dollars, so the stakes are high.
This role will focus on operational excellence and efficiency, working closely with teams across Brokerage Operations to ensure the best outcomes for our clients.
About the role
As the Associate Trader for Self Directed Investing, you will work directly on the Trading team, to support, assist, and monitor trading operations, with a primary emphasis on futures and options. While your focus will skew toward derivatives, you will still support all aspects of the business (equities, crypto, and more). You will be tasked with automating manual operational processes, leveraging AI tools to enhance efficiency, writing queries to gather business intelligence and supporting the trade desk in various initiatives. This is an exciting opportunity to meaningfully contribute to a dynamic company with the momentum of a successful team and product behind you.
What you'll do
Lead the day-to-day effort across trading operations on the SDI trade desk, with a specific focus on derivatives workflows, to measure, track and improve associated operations.
Support the team on major initiatives: new order types, new asset classes, and net new product launches, from early scoping through to execution
Manage cross-functional relationships across product, compliance, regulatory, trading, brokerage operations and client experience — balancing competing priorities and keeping the right people informed
Build and improve operational processes using SQL, AI tools, and automation — turning manual, time-consuming workflows into something more efficient and scalable
Monitor operational metrics and controls, identify anomalies early, and support risk management across derivatives workflows
Manage and execute (once registered) inventory for assets impacting SDI trading, including equities, options and crypto.
Contribute to post-incident remediation and root cause analysis when things go wrong — and help make sure they don't go wrong the same way twice.
Skills you bring
Active CIRO registration to trade equities, options, and futures
2 - 4 years of direct capital markets experience
Deep working knowledge of derivatives markets, specifically futures and options; solid understanding of equities and crypto
Hands-on experience in trade support and trading operations, including order execution
Strong SQL skills and experience writing queries for operational or analytical purposes
Familiarity with FIX protocol and UAT testing
Demonstrated experience using AI tools (e.g., Claude, Claude Code) to automate tasks, build workflows, and improve operational efficiency — including prompt engineering
Strong communication skills — you can translate complexity for different audiences without losing the thread
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities without dropping the ball
Nice to have
Proficiency in Python or another programming language
Experience working in a regulated fintech or brokerage environment
Exposure to launching new products or order types in a trading operations context
Who you are
You take ownership of your work end-to-end — you don't wait to be told something needs fixing
You're genuinely interested in trading and financial markets, and you bring that curiosity to how you approach the job
You're comfortable operating in a complex, fast-moving environment where regulatory requirements are real and the pace doesn't slow down
You think in systems — when something breaks, you're looking for the root cause, not just the quick fix
You build trust with cross-functional partners by being reliable, clear, and easy to work with
You're eager to learn and grow, and you see AI and automation as genuine tools — not buzzwords
