Director, Strategic Partnerships (Corporate Development)

In this role you'll have the opportunity to:
- Own the full partnership lifecycle—from strategic framing through prospecting, deal structuring, negotiation, execution, and ongoing relationship management.
- Design and execute bespoke structures, applying creativity in commercial and transaction design.
- Develop clear, compelling business cases that secure alignment and buy-in from senior leadership.
- Build and grow executive-level partner relationships across startups and financial services incumbents in Canada and international markets.
- Set and drive partnership strategy aligned with product roadmaps and corporate priorities, prioritizing opportunities based on long-term strategic and economic value.
- Craft persuasive partnership narratives that clearly articulate mutual value and strategic fit.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to implement the partnerships and ensure these deliver measurable business outcomes.
- Contribute to build / buy / partner analyses and broader Corp Dev initiative.
Skills you'll bring:
- 10+ years of experience in product / corporate / strategic partnerships, business development, or strategic alliances, preferably within FinTech or financial services.
- A strong ownership mindset with the ability to operate autonomously in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
- A proven track record of sourcing, structuring, negotiating, and scaling high-impact partnerships, including non-standard or bespoke arrangements.
- Executive-level communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence across senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Strong commercial and analytical acumen, including comfort with deal structuring, financial modeling, and data-driven decision-making.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, high-priority initiatives simultaneously while leading large, cross-functional teams
- Excellent negotiation judgment, strategic thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.
- A well-developed external network across with financial services in Canada and internationally.
- Bonus: Experience with M&A transactions and valuation modeling, enabling effective support across acquisitions and investments as needed.
