Marketing Automation Developer

What You'll Do:
- Development & Design:
- Create and maintain our email templates and email design system
- Build interactive email experiences, including dropdowns, carousels, and AMP for email
- Code advanced techniques like background images, device targeting, and dark mode support
- Provide development guidance and support to the Lifecycle Marketing team for email and in-app message builds
- Stay current on industry changes and email client support updates
- Act as SME on email and in-app message feasibility, scope creative designs, and explain channel nuances
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex email, in-app and web template issues
- Marketing Automation & Platform Operations:
- Design and build complex, multi-channel automation journeys in Braze
- Manage platform administration, including roles, users, and account settings
- Create and maintain custom HTML templates for in-app messaging
- Write Liquid for complex personalization and dynamic content
- Develop custom scripts (webhooks, advanced Liquid logic) to extend platform capabilities
- Integrate external tools and platforms using APIs beyond native supported integrations
- Test and support platform-side requirements for integrations (API requirements, custom attributes)
- Provide solution design and support for non-Lifecycle teams utilizing our marketing tools
- Data & Personalization:
- Implement advanced personalization logic, including for loops, connected content, and catalogs
- Write SQL queries for complex use cases and data extraction
- Create advanced segmentation strategies
- Build custom reports and data visualizations
- Design technical solutions based on our relational database structures
- AI & Workflow Automation:
- Evaluate, implement, and optimize AI tools to enhance marketing efficiency and campaign performance
- Build automated workflows that reduce manual tasks and streamline repetitive processes
- Develop AI-assisted solutions for content personalization, audience segmentation, and campaign optimization
- Create scoping tools and templates that help marketers estimate project timelines and resource requirements
- Design self-service tools that empower marketing team members to execute campaigns independently
- Identify opportunities to leverage AI for predictive analytics, A/B test optimization, and performance forecasting
- Build integrations between AI tools and our marketing tech stack to automate data flows and reporting
- Train team members on new automation tools and document best practices for AI-powered workflows
- Operations:
- Manage the Lifecycle Marketing JIRA board and assign requests from cross-team partners
- Translate business needs into technical solutions
- Maintain deep links code snippets for use in templates
- Serve as the technical SME for email and lifecycle marketing platforms
What You'll Bring:
- Expert-level email development: Proficient in HTML/CSS for email with deep knowledge of responsive design, email client quirks, and advanced techniques
- Interactive email techniques: Experience building dropdowns, carousels, AMP for email, and other interactive elements
- Marketing automation expertise: Proven experience building complex, multi-channel automation flows in platforms like Braze, Iterable or Salesforce Marketing Cloud
- Advanced scripting: Strong skills in Liquid, webhooks, and other marketing automation scripting languages
- SQL proficiency: Ability to write complex SQL queries for segmentation and reporting
- API integration: Experience integrating external platforms using APIs beyond standard supported integrations
- Problem-solving: Exceptional troubleshooting skills for niche email and platform issues
- Technical architecture: Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions
- Automation mindset: Strong instinct for identifying manual processes that can be automated and implementing scalable solutions
Nice to Have:
- Experience with Braze, Iterable or Salesforce Marketing Cloud
- Experience with Taxi for Email or other EDS platform
- Background in data visualization and custom reporting
- Understanding of relational databases and data architecture
- Experience managing technical projects and cross-functional stakeholder requests
- Passion for staying current on marketing technology innovations and best practices
- Familiarity with AI tools for marketing (generative AI, predictive models, content optimization)
- Experience building internal tools or documentation systems for marketing teams
- Knowledge of no-code/low-code automation platforms (Zapier, Make, etc.)
