Using smart technology, we take financial services that are often confusing, opaque and expensive and make them transparent and low-cost for everyone. We’re the largest fintech company in Canada, with over 4 million users who trust us with more than $70 billion in assets.
Our teams ship often and make an impact with groundbreaking ideas. We're looking for talented people who keep it simple and value collaboration and humility as we continue to create inclusive and high-performing teams where people can be inspired to do their best work.
About the Team
The Total Rewards team designs the strategic compensation and benefits programs that attract, retain, and motivate the talent Wealthsimple needs to achieve its mission.
About the Role
We’re looking for a new team member to act as the primary compensation partner to our business partners, providing counsel and empowering our stakeholders to make sound decisions on the execution of our compensation and benefits practices.

In this role you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Act as the primary compensation partner and main point of contact for HR Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, and business leaders on compensation design requests and cross-functional projects
  • Own and evolve all employee-facing Total Rewards resources, including leading Total Rewards education series and onboarding sessions to ensure our philosophy and programs are well understood
  • Lead the execution and continuous improvement of variable pay programs, including the design and administration of commission plans for our Sales organization
  • Collaborate with business leaders to provide counsel on evolving compensation practices and pay frameworks
  • Lead the execution of complex compensation projects and support the production of Compensation Committee materials, as needed

What You'll Bring:

  • Relevant work experience: You have 7+ years experience in compensation. Expertise in incentive plan design is required, including bonus, equity, and commission experience
  • Stakeholder partnership: Demonstrated experience acting as a trusted advisor and partner to senior leaders and HRBPs, with an ability to influence and provide strategic counsel
  • Project management: You are highly organized, with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously. You can independently drive results from scoping and planning through execution and delivery, ensuring stakeholders are aligned and deadlines are met
  • Decision making: You are comfortable making sound decisions under pressure and ambiguity
  • Data & analytics: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. You are comfortable using and manipulating data to drive tangible results. You don’t rely on others to do this for you
  • Attention to detail: You sweat the details. You know what top tier performance looks like because you have been a high achiever yourself.
  • Communication and collaboration: You are able to communicate complex ideas in a simple & easy-to-understand way for any audience. You have excellent interpersonal skills and willingness to work in collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders and teams
  • Creativity: You are comfortable with thinking outside of the box and being open to new ideas. You are curious and take initiative to experiment with new ideas, technologies, and solutions

In the first six months of this role you will:

  • Quickly master our Compensation Philosophy and Strategy, and our existing total rewards frameworks, structures, and programs
  • Establish strong partnerships with the People Operations team and key stakeholders to deepen business context and build trust
  • Partner closely with the Head of Total Rewards to support cross-functional projects
