We are seeking an Manager, Accounting at Wattpad who is an integral member of our Finance team and who will be responsible for coordinating all accounting operations, managing financial data consolidation, and preparing financial statements. The ideal candidate for this role is someone who is detail oriented, who has exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, and who is able to work collaboratively within a team.
Please note this is a 12-month fixed term employment contract position.
Finance team responsibilities
- Contributing to a positive team dynamic with a high degree of accountability through effective and regular communication
- Coordinating all accounting operational functions
- Coordinating activities and compliance with external auditors, internal auditors and the tax team
- Providing management with information vital to the decision-making process
- Assessing current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes
Period-end reporting responsibilities:
- Performing Month-end close procedures including review of account reconciliations, journal entries and intercompany entry eliminations
- Preparing accurate and comprehensive financial statements
- Managing the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results
Treasury responsibilities:
- Transfer pricing, inter-company, tax compliant support (HST, etc)
- Review monthly cash flow reporting
- Coordinating activities and all communication with the bank and other treasury related contacts
What we're looking for:
- CPA designation with 5+ years of accounting experience and minimum of 2 years leading full cycle accounting experience at a small/mid-sized company
- A deep understanding of financial principles, reporting standards, and regulations like GAAP is crucial for accurate financial analysis and compliance
- The ability to analyze large datasets, interpret complex financial information, and provide strategic insights is essential for decision-making and forecasting
- Expertise in accounting software, databases, and ERP systems is required to manage financial data efficiently.
- Strong proficiency in Excel
- Self-starter with ability to prioritize work and proven ability to think creatively and solve problems
- Ideally someone who has worked in multi-currency environments
- Comfortable with balancing the requirements of multiple stakeholder groups with competing priorities by leveraging varying expertise and availability of team members
- Experience in process orientation to allow for process/system improvements and effective review procedures of team’s work
