We are looking for a talented, detail-oriented Motion Designer to join our in-house Creative Team. As the visual storytellers and guardians of the Wattpad brand, Wattpad’s Creative Team fuels our mission to be the global destination for storytellers and their readers. As a key member of this team, you’ll create captivating video edits and motion graphics for our community, partners, and internal teams. Whether you’re animating a promotional video for a new product feature, coming up with trending video formats to elevate our social presence, or creating trailers for our stories out of stock footage, your work will have a powerful impact on our community and help bring Wattpad’s vision to life.
What you'll be doing:
- Motion Design and Editing: Edit videos, design and animate motion graphics for a range of platforms, including social media, product, brand activations, and ads, ensuring high production quality and alignment with brand guidelines.
- Trend Innovation: Identify and create new, trending video formats that resonate with our target audience, especially for ads and social media platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook.
- Collaborative Storytelling: Work with copywriters, marketers, designers, and other team members to bring briefs to life that captivate our audience.
- Visual Consistency: Ensure consistency across all video and motion graphics projects, maintaining the company’s brand style, tone, and aesthetic. You will contribute to our internal motion practices, including the motion brand guidelines.
- Time Management: Manage multiple projects and timelines, meeting deadlines while maintaining a high standard of quality and creativity.
- Content Optimization: Adapt videos and animations for specific platform requirements (e.g., aspect ratios, video length) to optimize for maximum engagement and reach.
- Resourceful use of Stock: Strategically incorporate and edit stock footage and music to enhance visual storytelling and stay within budget while maintaining a unique brand feel.
- Innovation & Experimentation: Continuously explore new tools, trends, and techniques in video editing and motion design, keeping on top of current digital and social media trends, especially in video formats popular with Gen Z audiences.
What we're looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree in Motion Design, Film, Animation, Graphic Design, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in motion design and video editing, ideally within a creative agency or in-house team.
- Strong portfolio showcasing a range of motion design and video editing work, including examples of creative storytelling and brand-focused content.
- Ability to consolidate and implement feedback quickly, resolving questions and concerns tactfully and effectively.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with file management and organizational processes and a strong organizational ethic.
- Experience pitching and presenting video work to internal teams, clients, and other stakeholders
- High standards for quality in design and animation, experience animating detailed illustrations and flat artwork, and a strong attention to detail
- Expert knowledge of After Effects, Premiere Pro, Photoshop, InDesign, & Illustrator
Wattpad is conducting all interviews in a distributed manner using applicable third party software where needed and using visual interface tools such as Google Meet and Zoom.
