JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Director of Semiconductor Production Operations to oversee the high-volume manufacturing of MicroLED displays. In this leadership role, you will be responsible for managing production teams, optimizing semiconductor fabrication processes, and ensuring the efficient, high-quality, and cost-effective production of MicroLED display technologies. You will work closely with R&D, engineering, and supply chain teams to scale manufacturing capabilities, implement best practices, and drive continuous improvement in production efficiency and product quality.
YOUR DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Production Management:
- Lead all aspects of semiconductor production that support MicroLED displays, including wafer fabrication and processing, display assembly, and packaging.
- Ensure that production meets or exceeds quality, yield, cost, and delivery targets.
- Develop and implement strategies for scaling production to meet market demands.
- Oversee production scheduling and resource allocation to optimize throughput and efficiency.
Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement:
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency, yield, and product quality.
- Collaborate with process engineering teams to implement advanced manufacturing techniques, automation, and process controls.
- Identify and eliminate bottlenecks in production processes and equipment, ensuring maximum uptime and utilization.
Quality Assurance & Compliance:
- Ensure that production processes comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Implement robust quality control measures to maintain high yields, reduce defect rates, and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Collaborate with quality assurance teams to investigate and resolve production issues, ensuring corrective actions are taken.
Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing production team, including production supervisors, and technicians.
- Foster a culture of operational excellence, safety, and continuous improvement within the production organization.
- Set clear performance goals, conduct regular performance reviews, and provide coaching and professional development for team members.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with R&D, process engineering, and supply chain teams to transfer new products and processes from development to high-volume production.
- Collaborate with supply chain and procurement teams to ensure the timely delivery of raw materials, components, and equipment.
- Serve as a key point of contact with customers, partners, and suppliers for production-related discussions and escalations.
Capacity Planning & Capital Projects:
- Lead capacity planning efforts to ensure production can meet current and future demand.
- Manage capital projects related to new equipment installations, facility expansions, and production line upgrades.
- Evaluate and justify capital expenditures to improve production capabilities and capacity.
Operational Metrics & Reporting:
- Track and report key production metrics, including yield, cycle time, throughput, and cost per unit.
- Analyze production data to identify trends, opportunities for improvement, and potential risks to operations.
- Present regular updates to senior leadership on production performance, issues, and improvement plans.
THE TOOLS NEEDED TO DO THE JOB:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field is required. A master’s degree or MBA is preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing, with at least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing production in a high-tech environment.
- Extensive experience in high-volume semiconductor manufacturing. A focus on displays (MicroLED, OLED, or LCD) or optoelectronic devices a plus.
- Proven track record of scaling production lines and improving operational efficiency, quality, and yield in semiconductor production.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and inspire large production teams.
- In-depth knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes, including epitaxy, lithography, etching, deposition, assembly, and packaging.
- Experience with process optimization methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to drive improvements in complex production environments.
- Strong project management skills, with experience managing capital projects and capacity expansion.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively across departments and with external partners.
