JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Semiconductor Process Engineer to support the development, optimization, and scaling of semiconductor manufacturing processes for MicroLED display technology. In this role, you will be responsible for driving process improvements in key areas such as epitaxy, photolithography, etching, deposition, and assembly, ensuring high-yield production and exceptional product quality. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including R&D, operations, and quality assurance, to develop advanced manufacturing processes and implement them in a high-volume production environment.

YOUR DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITES:

Process Development & Optimization:

  • Develop, optimize, and scale semiconductor fabrication processes, including epitaxy, photolithography, etching, thin-film deposition, and device integration for MicroLED displays.
  • Work closely with R&D and engineering teams to transfer new technologies from development to manufacturing, ensuring robust, repeatable, and scalable processes.
  • Identify areas for process improvement, including yield enhancement, defect reduction, and cost-saving opportunities, using data-driven methodologies such as Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing.

Process Characterization & Monitoring:

  • Perform process characterization using advanced analytical techniques and metrology tools (e.g., SEM, TEM, AFM, and spectrophotometry).
  • Establish statistical process control (SPC) systems to monitor process performance and proactively identify issues or deviations from target specifications.
  • Analyze process data to optimize key parameters, reduce variability, and enhance product quality.

Troubleshooting & Failure Analysis:

  • Lead root cause analysis and troubleshooting efforts for process-related defects, yield excursions, or equipment malfunctions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement corrective actions and preventative measures (CAPA) to minimize recurrence of issues.

Equipment & Tool Management:

  • Work with equipment engineering teams to qualify and maintain fabrication tools and equipment used in MicroLED semiconductor processing.
  • Evaluate new tools and technologies to improve process capabilities and overall production efficiency.
  • Define and implement preventive maintenance schedules and calibration procedures for critical process equipment.

Documentation & Compliance:

  • Develop and maintain process documentation, including work instructions, process flows, and control plans.
  • Ensure that all processes comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO 9001), and participate in internal and external audits as needed.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with R&D, product engineering, and operations teams to ensure seamless integration of new materials, devices, and process improvements into the production environment.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to production staff on process-related topics to ensure smooth execution of manufacturing activities.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the semiconductor process area, focusing on yield enhancement, cycle time reduction, and cost optimization.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in semiconductor processing technologies, identifying opportunities to adopt new techniques or materials to improve MicroLED manufacturing.

TOOLS/SKILLS YOU NEEDED FOR YOUR ROLE:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Chemical Engineering, or a related field. Specialization in semiconductor processing or display technologies is highly preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in semiconductor process engineering. Focus in MicroLED, OLED, LCD, or other optoelectronic device fabrication a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with semiconductor manufacturing processes such as epitaxy, photolithography, etching, deposition, or device packaging.
  • Familiarity with cleanroom environments and the operation of semiconductor fabrication tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex process issues.
  • Experience with statistical process control (SPC), design of experiments (DOE), and other data-driven process optimization techniques.
  • Proficiency with process characterization tools (e.g., SEM, TEM, AFM, spectrophotometers).
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a cross-functional environment.
  • Familiarity with quality systems such as ISO 9001 and experience participating in process audits.
