We’re looking for an innovative Web & Graphic Designer to join our team and help bring the Resilience in Action project to life through compelling visuals, intuitive web design, and engaging multimedia content. What Will Your Typical Day Look Like?
No two days are the same! In this exciting and impactful role, you’ll design user-friendly web interfaces, create multimedia content for social media campaigns, and develop culturally inclusive marketing materials that connect with survivors of gender-based violence (GBV), particularly immigrant, refugee, and non-status women. You’ll collaborate with a diverse team of developers, researchers, and community partners to ensure the Vesta website and outreach materials align with trauma-informed principles and reflect the voices of those we aim to serve. What You’ll Be Doing
Web Design & Maintenance
- Build and maintain a responsive wordpress website that performs seamlessly across all devices and browsers, ensuring an optimal user experience on any platform.
- Work closely with Communication and Awareness team members to post new content on a monthly basis.
- Implement SEO best practices to optimize websites for search engines, including proper markup, fast-loading pages, and on-page optimization.
- Use monitoring tools to track website performance, uptime, and load times. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in a timely manner, ensuring seamless website functionality.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues on the website, ensuring compliance with accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG 2.1).
- Document development processes, workflows, and best practices for internal use.
Graphic Design & Multimedia Creation
- Create high-quality visual content, including social media graphics, infographics, digital banners, posters, guidebooks, toolkits, and print materials for in-person events.
- Develop multimedia assets such as animations, short videos, and culturally relevant illustrations for outreach and awareness campaigns.
- Work with the communications team to produce engaging, multilingual materials that resonate with diverse audiences, particularly immigrant, refugee, and non-status women.
Social Media & Campaign Support
- Collaborate with the communication and outreach team to create visually compelling content for email marketing campaigns and social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and TikTok.
- Design campaign assets to amplify the Resilience in Action project’s messaging and engage survivors and community organizations.
- Ensure all materials reflect trauma-informed principles, are culturally sensitive, and foster trust and empowerment.
Collaboration and Teamwork
- Work closely with the Communication and Awareness team, UX/UI developers, researchers, and community partners to ensure designs meet survivor needs and align with project objectives.
- Maintain a consistent brand identity across all platforms and materials.

Experience & Education
- 2+ years of experience in graphic design, web design, or multimedia content creation, or less with an exceptional portfolio.
- Diploma or degree in Graphic Design, Digital Media, Visual Communication, or a related field.
- Must be currently eligible to work in Canada.
- International experience and/or designing in multiple languages are assets.
- Human-centric or trauma-informed design experience is a strong asset.
- Successful candidates will be required to complete a successful background check prior to commencing employment which may include verification of identity with photo ID, criminal record, vulnerable persons and background check with previous employers and given references.
Creative & Technical Skills
- Proficiency in design tools like Adobe Creative Suite (Express, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc), Canva, or similar.
- Experience with WordPress and Elementor for website management and basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of creating responsive web designs and optimizing for performance across devices.
- Familiarity with video editing and animation tools like After Effects, Premiere Pro, Jasper.AI, Playground.AI, Opus Clip or similar.
- Experience creating multilingual and culturally inclusive content is a strong asset.
- Understanding of accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG 2.1) and trauma-informed design principles.
