Exciting Opportunity: Senior Accountant (Maternity Leave Placement)

We're seeking a talented Senior Accountant to join our vibrant team. As part of the finance team, we are looking for an individual with an eye to detail and has a passion for all things reporting. You will work closely with members of the finance team to ensure we are providing timely and accurate information to support the business.

What You'll Do:

• Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger

• Prepare account reconciliations

• Prepare working papers that support account balances and investigate any issues

• Assist with overall general ledger accuracy through monthly general ledger review

• Assist with preparation of monthly financials and other reports as required

• Analyze, investigate and report on monthly variances

What We're Looking For:

• Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting or related field

• 3-5 years of experience in a financial environment applying analytical and problem-solving skills

• Experience in the financial or IT sector would be considered an asset

• High proficiency in utilizing Workday, OneStream, Excel, PowerPoint and PowerBI

• Ability to work with large sets of data to spot trends and anomalies, understand the details while being able to tell the big picture story.

• Work independently, with an attention to detail and ability to ensure quality and accuracy of output.

• Ability to handle multiple simultaneous projects and meet tight deadlines; remain calm under pressure and in the face of uncertainty.

• Must be proactive, resourceful, and demonstrate intellectual curiosity.

• Build strong working relationships

This position can be located in St. John’s and offers the opportunity for a hybrid work environment (at least 2 days a week in office, subject to change), providing flexibility and accessibility for qualified candidates.
