Position Profile

The Events Intern will support the Director of Events and Sponsorships with the planning, marketing and onsite execution of ventureLAB events and engagements.


  • Provide support required to ensure the efficient and effective planning of events
  • Provide marketing support required to promote and deliver messaging of events
  • Assist in the execution of events and workshops aimed at helping entrepreneurs, stakeholders and the broader ecosystem
  • Assist in the execution of internal staff meetings and events
  • Support in the planning, marketing and execution of ventureLAB’s annual HardTech Summit
  • Work cross-departmentally to offer support in event planning & marketing
  • other duties as required
  • **Some travel may be required


  • Enrolled in a post-secondary institution program in event management or a related-field with 1-2 years of related business experience, preferably in a not-for-profit or government organization
  • Event planning and/or Project management experience
  • Marketing experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, G-Suite and Salesforce
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent time-management and organizational skills
  • Demonstrates great interpersonal skills along with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be a hands-on self-starter with the ability to manage multiple tasks and shifting priorities
  • Strong service mentality, and a great team player
  • Experience working with start-ups is an asset

Canada Summer Jobs Program Criteria:

  • between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;
