About the Job:

The mission of the Staff Accountant I is to assist in the preparation of financial reports and coordinate all aspects of the accounting function.The incumbent of this role demonstrates high attention to detail, punctuality, and accountability and will be responsible for performing key financial operations such as core financial statement reconciliations, month-end close, and treasury management.


Your Impact:

  • Financial Reporting & Month-End Close:
    Key team member during the month-end close process by coordinating assigned tasks, preparing journal entries, and maintaining the month-end checklist.
    Prepare financial reports for various Vendasta entities, ensuring accurate reconciliations and adjustments.
    Analyze departmental P&L accounts and provide detailed explanations for significant fluctuations.Treasury Functions:
    Support daily treasury management across Vendasta’s bank accounts.
    Supports the reconciliation of bank accounts.Audit & Compliance:
    Assist in the coordination and delivery of audit requests for external auditors and tax authorities.
    Ensure all accounting functions comply with IFRS and Vendasta’s internal financial policies and procedures.
  • Collaboration & Project Support:
    Partner with other Staff Accountants and Accounting Analysts to assist with questions on processing A/R, A/P and general accounting transactions.
    Participate in finance-led and cross-functional projects, contributing financial expertise and analysis.
  • Accounts Payable Functions:
    Oversees the processing of expense claims and credit card transactions, including coding of transactions and assisting Staff Accountant Is and Accounting Analysts with day-to-day issues.
    Assists with the coordination of accounts payable invoice processing.
  • Variance Reporting:
    Conduct variance analysis of departmental income statements and provide clear explanations for period-over-period and actual-budget differences.
    Deliver timely and accurate financial reports to business units and management to support decision-making.

What you bring to the table:

  • Technical Accounting Skills
    Working knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and how these principles impact financial reporting.
    Proficiency in financial reporting, journal entries, reconciliations, and audit processes.
  • Financial Analysis
    Ability to analyze financial data, identify trends, and explain variances in departmental and overall financial statements.
  • ERP & Accounting Software Expertise
    Experience working with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and accounting software (e.g., NetSuite or similar).
  • Treasury Management
    Familiarity with treasury functions, including cash management across multiple bank accounts and oversight of payment processing.
  • Attention to Detail
    High level of accuracy and attention to detail in the preparation of financial statements, reconciliations, and audit support.
  • Collaboration & Communication
    Strong interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and provide financial insights to non-financial stakeholders.
    Excellent verbal and written communication skills to report on financial performance and processes.
  • 1-3 years of experience in Accounting or a related field
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (Accounting, Finance or a related field preferred), but not required.
