MARKETING SPECIALIST

POSITION OVERVIEW

Do you want to serve as a marketing specialist on Vector’s Marketing and Communications team and work with community partners, small-businesses, industry, and AI leaders to execute a full complement of marketing initiatives to drive growth and engagement from Vector’s communities?

What will your typical day look like?

As a Marketing Specialist, you will be part of Vector’s Marketing and Communications team responsible for end-to-end support of marketing campaigns targeted at Vector’s communities – including but not limited to; students, alumni, researchers, small businesses, large enterprises, and other ecosystem members participating in Vector’s programs. You will have oversight for implementing marketing tactics such as content development, supporting event/sponsorship marketing, and working with our digital marketing team on online engagement activities.

In this fast-paced role, you will deliver multiple marketing campaigns at the same time, on schedule and on budget, with an insight and data-driven approach. Reporting to the Marketing Manager, you will be working in close collaboration with agencies and internal resources to project manage campaigns, develop campaign assets, as well as writing content and developing creative to engage Vector’s audiences.

As an integral member of a high performing Marketing and Communications team, you will be responsible for working collaboratively with other team members, as well as Vector’s many workstreams to support the execution of these marketing programs, events, and initiatives.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the activation and marketing of Vector events, including supporting the tactical execution of campaigns across creative, digital, and social media, onsite brand presence, and client experience domains;
  • Work closely with Marketing and Communication colleagues, our workstreams, academic or community partners and sponsors to develop a strong brand through various campaigns/ tactics for Vector offerings, as well as help tracking and reporting the value of these engagements;
  • Assist the Marketing Manager in driving awareness across our ecosystem for Vector’s offerings and serve as a point of contact for key contacts within Vector’s community, including but not limited to SMEs, large enterprise sponsors, university or community partner marketing contacts;
  • Create, project manage and execute marketing campaign critical paths/plans, tracking deliverables and program efficiency;
  • Work cross-functionally to drive lead generation as well as engagement from existing or potential sponsor/ SME prospects and maximize conversion within Vector’s communities for Vector’s offerings;
  • Determine appropriate sales enablement support, campaigns and collateral required to advance Vector’s sponsor, SME, or community engagement initiatives as well as possibly support some account-based marketing;
  • Support sponsorships and co-branding campaigns as well as executing campaigns associated with these sponsorships/partnerships ensuring KPIs and evaluation metrics are defined and tracked;
  • Ability to balance multiple stakeholders and respond to the needs of ecosystem partners through marketing campaigns while balancing other organization-wide 'asks' of the marketing and communications function;
  • Assist the Marketing Manager and workstream leaders in the research and analysis of market trends and ROI from campaigns to help translate the key insights and learnings into future campaign recommendations; and,
  • Support the Marketing Manager in developing lead-generation and lead-nurturing campaigns that meet Vector's ecosystem engagement KPIs.


KEY SUCCESS MEASURES

  • Supporting progress towards Vector’s strategic objectives (i.e., as they relate to Industry Innovation, Research Operations, Health, Academic Partnerships, AI Engineering) is enhanced by the development and implementation of marketing strategies;
  • Supporting a measurable increase in brand awareness, consideration, and program participation across all key segments (i.e., students, researchers, faculty, sponsors etc.);
  • Supporting a measurable increase in reach and frequency of communication to target segments (e.g., via growth in email marketing lists);
  • Increased frequency of student, research and alumni community stories and testimonials shared on Vector channels to encourage engagement;
  • Increase in co-branded content shared on partner channels; and,
  • Internal feedback indicates that the marketing function provides high-quality service and support to Vector workstreams.

PROFILE OF THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or related discipline;
  • 3-5 years of marketing management experience in B2C and/or B2B marketing, brand management, digital and performance marketing;
  • Solid understanding of B2B marketing and sales enablement is required;
  • Comfortable with day-to-day marketing and analysis activities and mid-and long-term strategy, thriving with tight deadlines and changing needs;
  • Strong written and verbal communicator with a polished presentation skills;
  • Bilingualism (French speaking/ writing) is an asset;
  • Metrics-driven marketing mind with an eye for creative problem-solving;
  • Ability to work creatively and manage multiple partners and projects;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Experience managing digital marketing in compliance with Canadian Anti-Spam Legislation;
  • Ability to work independently on several projects concurrently and maintain focus and professionalism in high pressure environments;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to work successfully with various organizational levels, including colleagues, senior executives, and external partners; and,
  • Interest and understanding of Canada’s innovation and knowledge economy.
