About Us

Upside Robotics is on a mission to make farming more sustainable and efficient using "physical AI." We build autonomous, solar-powered robots that navigate cornfields to apply fertilizer with surgical precision—think of them as "Roombas for cornfields."

By delivering nutrients directly to the root exactly when the plant needs them, we help farmers reduce fertilizer waste by up to 70%, cut costs by $150 per acre, and significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions. With a $7.5M Seed round recently closed and a waitlist of over 200 farms, we are scaling our fleet across Ontario and into the U.S. Corn Belt. We are an "agronomy-first" company that uses robotics as a tool to solve one of the world's biggest environmental and economic challenges.

What We're Looking For

Upside Robotics is hiring a full-time Robot Technician to join our production team in building and servicing our growing fleet of agricultural robots. This role is the backbone of our physical product, combining high-precision assembly at our Kitchener facility with critical troubleshooting and diagnostics at farms across Ontario.

We’re looking for someone who is technically minded, curious, adaptable, and ready to grow in an environment where your hands-on work has a real-world impact. Help us build the future of farming—one robot at a time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assembly and Testing:
  • Build and test our robotic and auxiliary systems at our Kitchener facility.
  • Safely use a variety of hand and power tools to assemble complex mechanical and electronic components.
  • Follow strict work instructions and procedures, performing rework of components as required.
  • Continuous Improvement:
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to suggest ways to improve ease of assembly and hardware reliability.
  • Identify opportunities to increase robot uptime and maintainability in the field.
  • Quality Control & Inventory:
  • Perform quality control checks on incoming goods according to our QC plan.
  • Intake validated parts into inventory and maintain meticulous records of quality issues.
  • Field Service:
  • Travel to farms to perform diagnostics, repairs, maintenance, and upgrades in "real-world" conditions.
  • Work directly with farmers on-site to coordinate service calls and communicate technical findings back to the engineering team.
  • Requirements

  • Experience: 2–5 years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, maintenance, or machine shop environment.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient with a variety of hand and power tools; ability to follow engineering drawings and production procedures.
  • Physical Ability: Able to stand for long periods, bend/crouch/kneel, work outdoors in various weather conditions, and lift 50 lbs comfortably.
  • Mobility: Valid G License and a comfort level traveling to rural customer sites.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Education: Minimum of High School Diploma/CAEC
  • Previous Role: Experience in an assembly, fabrication, or maintenance role specifically involving complex electromechanical systems.
  • Benefits & Compensation

  • Salary: $54,000 - $65,000
  • Equity: To be provided; own a piece of the company you are building.
  • Healthcare: Comprehensive coverage provided through Alan Health.
  • Vacation: Unlimited. We don't track it—we focus on the work getting done.
