Keyera is seeking a Facility Operator for the Josephburg Terminal located in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta. This is a local position and not part of a camp rotation. The schedule involves alternating day and night shifts.
The successful candidate will be proactive, capable of working independently, and committed to continuous learning. They will contribute to team-based problem solving, offer ideas and solutions, and demonstrate adaptability in dynamic situations.
Responsibilities
- Maintain care and control of the facility, ensuring safe and efficient operations.
- Operate and monitor process equipment including pumps, vessels, gas chromatographs, and racks.
- Conduct facility readings and pull product samples, including monthly composites.
- Prepare and authorize work permits for employees and contractors.
- Identify and report mechanical issues across process and mobile equipment (e.g., pumps, vehicles, loaders)
- Lead preventative maintenance activities such as filter and strainer changeouts.
- Troubleshoot equipment and process issues with a proactive approach.
- Prepare Lock Out/Tag Out procedures for maintenance work.
- Supervise third-party services and conduct pre-job meetings.
- Perform site-specific orientations for contractors and truck drivers.
- Support monthly meter proving with Keyera’s Measurement Group
- Complete final inspection and sign-off of railcars for site release.
- Mentor junior operators and contribute to their development.
- Progress through the site-specific Career Development Program
- Collaborate directly with the Control Center to ensure operational alignment.
- Participate in Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) meetings and initiatives.
- Contribute to the development of safe operating procedures and emergency response drills.
- Ensure compliance with Keyera’s Corporate Safe Operating Practices, guidelines, and policies.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in terminal operations.
- Candidates with a strong interest in expanding their knowledge in power engineering are encouraged to apply.
- Experience with Maximo (asset)
- Ability to read and interpret Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID)
- Proven experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Human–Machine Interface (HMI)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software
- Maintain professional relationships with external parties (e.g., customers, third-party services)
- Must wear respiratory protective equipment; per Alberta OHS 250(2), an adequate seal is required where the facepiece contacts the skin.
