Summary

The Avenir Centre is seeking Casual Facility Operators. This position is responsible for the daily activities required to run, maintain, and service the arena and its events. Duties include maintaining the ice surface and refrigeration plant, handling event setups and teardowns, and ensuring general upkeep of the facility inside and out.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Include the following (other duties may be assigned):

• General building maintenance
• Event setup and teardown
• Installing and maintaining the ice surface
• Overseeing ice rentals
• Custodial responsibilities
• Grounds maintenance and snow removal
• Safe and efficient event conversions
• Opening and closing procedures
• Providing facility security and support in emergencies (evacuations, alarms, injuries)
• Minor repairs and general maintenance of building systems
• Monitoring the refrigeration plant in accordance with legal and safety standards

Education and/or Experience

• High school diploma or GED certificate required
• Related work experience is considered an asset

Skills and Abilities

• Able to perform heavy lifting and work at heights
• Comfortable using tools and maintenance equipment
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with management, tenants, coworkers, and the public
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work under tight deadlines
• Self-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a team

Computer Skills

• Basic computer proficiency required

Physical Demands

This position requires a range of physical activity, including:

• Lifting, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, squatting, reaching
• Working in a cold arena environment
• Extended periods of physical movement as required by tasks

Other Requirements

• Must be available to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Flexibility to adjust the schedule based on event needs is essential
