Property Maintenance Technician Job Summary

We are seeking an energetic, motivated individual to join our organization as a Property Maintenance Technician. In this role, you will address common maintenance issues across multiple properties, performing repairs and installations as well as recommending subcontractors for major projects. You must be able to address a host of common property issues, such as plumbing, and carpentry as well as seasonal snow removal and ice maintenance and lawn and gardens care. Our ideal candidate has several years of professional experience in property management and maintenance, along with reliable transportation and a flexible schedule to respond to emergencies as they arise.

During the snow season the Property Maintenance Technician will safely and effectively clear snow and manage risk associated with snow/ice. The Technician would be expected to be available 24hrs/day, 7 days/week at any time a snow or ice event occurs on sites. For all repairs and maintenance and not during the snow fall season the hours will be 8:30am-4:30pm.

Snow Removal responsibilities:

  • Perform snow removal duties with focus on quality and timely execution.
  • Operate truck with mounted snowplows or pushers in safe and productive manner.
  • Excellent recordkeeping of work completed, equipment inspections, service logs and reporting.
  • Respond promptly to calls for snow and ice events
  • Prepare and show up for shifts free from the influence of any drugs, alcohol, or medicines

that have an effect on safe and productive equipment operation

  • Conduct pre-shift inspections and maintenance on all vehicles and equipment
  • Clear snow from sites from designated areas and pile snow in designated locations
  • Operate vehicles and snow plow equipment in a safe, responsible and efficient manner
  • Control ice accumulations with the use of de-icing agents (salt, or other de-icing chemicals)
  • Hand-shovel or site areas as required (walkways, doorways, fire equipment, etc.)
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures
  • Work in accordance with all local health and safety laws and regulations
  • Communicate with customers in a polite and courteous manner

Repair and maintenance responsibilities:

  • Performs general repairs that do not require a specialized technician. Examples may include repairing drywall, painting, and repairing doors and other building fixtures.
  • Installing faucets, flappers, flush valves, silicon, and Caulking tubs and such
  • Miscellaneous Plumbing (Bathroom & Kitchen Pipe Clearing)
  • Perform routine and scheduled maintenance across multiple properties
  • Installation/repairs of locks and door closures
  • Orders supplies and materials needed for repairs and maintenance.
  • Use mowers, weed whackers, and common garden tools to trim grass, edge lawns and maintain plants and garden areas.
  • Operate leaf blowers and gather grass trimmings and gather hedge trimmings for removal
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Completion of high school
  • Valid drivers’ license and/or equipment operators certificate(s)
  • Safe driving record – able to submit a driver’s abstract (infractions history) upon request
  • Minimum 2 years of experience operating snowplows and/or snow plow equipment
  • Ability to follow safe working procedures
  • Excellent observation skills and a strong attention to detail
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Ability to work both independently with little supervision, and as part of a team
  • Speak, read, and write English
  • Carry and use a smart phone or data-enabled device for communication and reporting
  • Extremely flexible working hours, including nights, weekend, and holiday work (during winter season)
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. repeatedly
  • Always represent the organization’s best interest, maintain the highest level of integrity and professionalism.
  • It is required that the successful candidate must have cold weather gear and wear it appropriately to protect themselves against adverse weather conditions.
  • Physical ability to bend, crouch, and lift objects throughout the workday

Familiarity with common landscaping equipment

Prior experience or work in lawn maintenance (preferred)

Job Type: Full-time
