Chard is a Vancouver-based real estate development firm with a passion for empowering communities beyond buildings. With over 30 projects completed or underway across Metro Vancouver and Greater Victoria, Chard has delivered more than 1,400 homes and 265,000 sq ft of commercial space – and that’s just the beginning. Our work spans purpose-built rental, affordable and attainable homeownership, strata commercial, and hotel developments. Every Chard project reflects our commitment to strengthening communities and delivering long-term value.
We don’t just develop real estate. We operate it too. In 2023, we launched Chard Property Group to provide professional property and asset management services to our growing portfolio. Today, CPG manages several Chard-owned buildings, with plans to extend our Uncommon Care approach to third-party clients who share our values.

What This Role Is All About
We’re looking for a proactive and organized Building Manager to oversee the daily operations of one of our managed properties. In this role, you’ll lead the on-site team, coordinate building maintenance and tenant services, and ensure the property is performing at its best. You’ll be the primary point of contact for tenants and contractors, and the go-to person for ensuring the building runs smoothly, safely, and efficiently.
What You’ll Be Doing
· Supervise the on-site building team, including technicians, cleaners, and security personnel
· Oversee the day-to-day operations of the building, ensuring all systems and services are functioning effectively
· Conduct regular inspections of common areas, mechanical rooms, and exterior spaces
· Coordinate and support preventive and corrective maintenance with internal staff and third-party contractors
· Manage tenant service requests with responsiveness, professionalism, and care
· Serve as the primary on-site contact for resident concerns or complaints, taking the time to listen actively, ask clarifying questions, and respond with empathy, professionalism, and Uncommon Care.
· Assess the complexity of each issue to determine appropriate next steps, escalating to the Property Manager when needed.
· Ensure compliance with all building regulations, safety standards, and company policies
· Participate in budgeting and cost control related to building operations, supplies, and maintenance
· Support move-in/move-out processes and assist with unit turnovers as required
· Maintain accurate records using CMMS or other digital platforms
· Act as the main on-site contact for emergency response and after-hours issues (including participation in an on-call rotation)
· Represent Chard and the building’s ownership group in a professional, respectful, and service-oriented manner
What You’ll Bring
· 5+ years of experience in building operations or property management, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role
· Rental Property Manager licence (or eligibility to obtain one) through the BCFSA is considered an asset.
· Solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, and life safety systems
· Experience managing staff and third-party vendors or contractors
· Experience using Yardi, Grata or other similar software
· Strong customer service orientation, especially in residential or mixed-use environments
· Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, email, reporting tools)
· Building operator designation or trade certification is an asset
· Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation (if required)
Who You Are
· A confident and capable leader who knows how to manage people and prioritize work
· Detail-oriented and organized, with a hands-on, get-it-done mindset
· Strong communicator—clear, calm, and professional with tenants, team members, and vendors
· Proud to keep your building clean, safe, and running efficiently
· Comfortable balancing technical knowledge with day-to-day team supervision
· Solutions-focused and proactive, with a natural sense of ownership over your work and your site
How We Invest In You
At Chard, we know that when our people thrive, our communities do too. That’s why we offer more than just a paycheque - we invest in your success, well-being, and sense of purpose.
· Competitive salary and bonus plans aligned with market benchmarks and your experience.
· Extended health and dental coverage as well as a health spending account to support what you need the most
· Ongoing training and professional development opportunities, including custom programs built around our Uncommon Care philosophy
