Position Summary
Provide maintenance for the building, property, grounds, and associated equipment within the facility. Repair and monitor all building systems to maintain safe operable condition.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Mechanical Equipment Repairs:
- Provide 24 hour, on-call service for equipment repairs
- Minor repairs to electrical, mechanical, heating, ventilation, plumbing and emergency power and related equipment ensuring safety precautions are taken prior to and during repair i.e., PPE, lockout/tag out
Building Repairs:
- Repair and maintain building with carpentry, painting and dry wall repair, windows, doors, locks, floors, loose tiles, drapery and privacy track, and lighting
- Minor repairs to resident items – furniture, wheel chairs and walkers, hanging pictures or nick knacks, TV hook ups
Building Maintenance:
- Maintain outdoor areas by; painting, landscaping, gardening, lawn care, snow removal and salting in winter
- Perform boiler room checks to ensure everything is in proper working order
- Clean and replace kitchen exhaust fans, filters, grease traps and compression fans as necessary
- Perform general plumbing
- Works with approved contractors to perform renovations, major repairs and maintenance procedures as required
Other Duties:
- Repairs to beds and other nursing equipment Ensure that operating machinery is maintained & serviced regularly according to the preventative maintenance program
- Load/Unload deliveries for medical, kitchen, laundry, and housekeeping
- Move & relocate of furniture when required
- Work with approved contractors to perform renovations, major repairs and maintenance procedures as required
- Keep garbage areas clean & tidy
General:
- Incumbents must keep up-to-date on all relevant legislation, collective bargaining agreements, County Policies and Procedures, etc. ensuring that these are implemented as prescribed
- Incumbents must possess the physical ability to meet the duties and responsibilities of the job description and/or the requirements identified within the position's Physical Demands Analysis

Credentials Required
Minimum Formal Education
- Completion of Grade 12
- Completion of or working towards completion of Building Operator Certification (BOC)
- Technical trade/maintenance certificate (1 year post-secondary)
Experience
- 3 years of experience in building maintenance/ construction or two years building maintenance/ construction plus mechanical trades certificate
A valid Ontario driver's license and use of a vehicle.
