Building Operator – Educational Facility
Location: Vancouver, BC
Pay Range: $26 - $32/hour + Benefits
Schedule: Rotating Schedule; Mon - Fri Wk1 [6am-2pm] Wk2 [2pm-10:30pm] (1 Saturday per month 7am-5pm)

About the Role

We’re hiring a Building Operator to support the day-to-day operations of two adjacent buildings at an Educational Facility in Vancouver, BC. In this role, you’ll be responsible for monitoring building systems, handling preventive and demand maintenance, and ensuring optimal performance of HVAC, mechanical, and electrical infrastructure across both sites.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily rounds, log readings, and infrastructure inspections across both buildings.
• Respond to tenant requests, service calls, and building-related emergencies.
• Perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and life safety systems.
• Conduct water treatment tests and generator inspections.
• Support energy efficiency by optimizing equipment performance.
• Troubleshoot and repair infrastructure systems including pumps, motors, valves, breakers, and air handling units.
• Coordinate and oversee vendor or contractor work, ensuring compliance with safety and service standards.
• Complete maintenance histories and updates using the site’s CMMS system.
• Support general building upkeep (painting, drywall, grounds maintenance).
• Assist trades and other team members as needed.

Qualifications

• 4th or 5th Class Power Engineer ticket preferred.
• 2–5 years of facility operations/maintenance experience, ideally in institutional or commercial environments.
• Strong mechanical or electrical background.
• Familiarity with CMMS and Building Automation Systems (BAS) preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Comfortable working on-call, weekends, and shifts as required.
• Must be legally authorized to work in Canada without current or future sponsorship.
