The Town of New Tecumseth is looking for a Casual Part-time Facilities Operator I to join our rapidly growing team.

Reporting to the Supervisor, Facilities & Property, and under the guidance of Senior Facilities Operator, this position performs the necessary duties to ensure that assigned area(s) of responsibility is kept clean and safe at all times; assists in all aspects of work related to the day- to-day operations, including winter and summer maintenance of municipal buildings and facilities under the jurisdiction of the Recreation, Facilities and Culture Department (RFC).

How you contribute to our organization:

  • Assist with the maintenance of the multi-plex spaces and other Town-owned facilities. Responsibilities include but are not limited to emptying waste and recycle containers, dusting, sweeping and damp mopping resilient and hard floors, vacuuming carpeted areas and mats, cleaning glass, cleaning, sanitizing and polishing fixtures in washrooms and kitchens; spot cleaning walls, doors, partitions and other surfaces, refilling dispensers, cleaning and sanitizing lunch room tables, dust control of all floors, removing scuff and heel marks, shampooing carpets as required, stripping, waxing and buffing hard surfaces as required; snow and ice removal from entrances/exits/walkways, ensuring cleaning supplies and tools are maintained, stored and stocked.
  • Participate in arena ice making and the maintenance of ice surfaces.
  • Respond to public inquiries and complaints directing matters to appropriate personnel for resolution.
  • Participate in function set ups/take downs.

What you bring to the team:

  • Requires a high school diploma.
  • Must have a valid G class driver s licence, and ability to provide a clean driver's abstract upon hire.
  • Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C certification.
  • ORFA Basic Refrigeration or equivalent preferred.
  • Requires at least one (1) year experience in a similar position.
  • Must have the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, legible handwriting and ability to communicate with the public in a polite and diplomatic manner.
  • Must be available for call-in shifts to work evenings and weekends.

Wage: $25.02 - $29.44, plus 4% vacation pay and optional enrolment in OMERS pension plan
Hours: Up to 24 hours per week as required Facility operations are 5:30 a.m. to 12 a.m., 7 days a week - shifts will vary and will be as required, no guarantee of hours
Location: Will vary
