Sport Manitoba owns and operates a facility located at 145 Pacific Avenue in Winnipeg and is seeking a dynamic, innovative, and high-energy individual to join our team. The Building Engineer will apply advanced technical skills to perform complex preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on building systems, industrial equipment, and grounds. Working with limited supervision, they will monitor the operation and performance of building systems and utilize a range of trade skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire/life safety, and building automation systems (BAS)
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot building system issues efficiently
  • Perform scheduled inspections, emergency repairs, and facility upkeep
  • Ensure compliance with safety codes, regulations, and sustainability practices
  • Operate and maintain building automation and control systems
  • Collaborate with team members to support facility operations
  • Liaise with outside vendors, technicians, and contractors for specialized repairs or inspections in relation to the built environment.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in building systems engineering, mechanical engineering technology, facilities/building management, HVAC systems, or a related field
  • Power Engineering Certificate, 4th Class or higher
  • Refrigeration or HVAC certification preferred
  • Trade certification in electrical, plumbing, or mechanical fields is an asset
  • WHMIS and First Aid/CPR certification
  • 3–5 years of experience in building operations, maintenance, or facilities management
  • Hands-on experience with HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, building automation (BAS), and preventive maintenance programs
  • Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and blueprints

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
  • Proficient in building automation and control systems
  • Working knowledge of safety codes, standards, and energy efficiency best practices
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision
  • Multi-trade skills including basic carpentry, painting, drywall, and mechanical work
  • Skilled in the use of hand and power tools
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset
