Job Summary
Athletics and Recreation takes a holistic approach to enhancing the Dalhousie experience by creating and sharing ways to engage and connect students through physical activity and wellness, to contribute to student success. Reporting to the Director, Facilities and Operations, the Supervisor, Facilities and Operations’ primary focus is to supervise the operations of our varsity home games and other events. The position will also prepare the facility for all communications and event coordination in the delivery of varsity home games.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise 40-50 part-time event student and casual staff including interviewing, hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating and performance management.
- Manage product selection, inventory control process, delivery and pick-up of concessions supplies, and maintain an accurate inventory of products. Manage liquor licenses and organize product pick-up from Dalhousie’s Bar Services.
- Ensure adherence to proper food, alcohol service, and cash handling procedures and protocols while delivering a high-quality guest experience.
- Adhere to and stay up to date on all AUS and U SPORTS requirements for all home varsity games pertaining to facility set up and field of play regulations.
- Assist with facilities reservations, operational activities, and staff supervision in all areas of facility operations as needed.
Note
The incumbent will be required to attend events during the evening and on weekends. Scheduling and compensation will be in accordance with the collective agreement.

Required Qualifications
- Business/Administrative Professional diploma with approximately three to five years’ related experience (or an equivalent combination of training and experience).
- Demonstrated excellent customer service, interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills.
- Proven ability to exercise initiative and work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and supervise student staff.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail are required.
- Proven proficiency in MS Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word).
Assets
- Smart Serve or related alcohol service certification.
