Under general direction from Supervisor and/or Charge Hand, Plant Operations, Langford performs a wide variety of maintenance duties such as daily operations, repairs, reactive, and preventative maintenance of all building equipment and systems including but not restricted to, boilers, HVAC units, water systems, compressed air and building system environmental controls.

The incumbent is responsible for quality work in a timely manner and ensuring that all duties are carried out in a safe and efficient manner, in accordance with all relevant statutory, regulatory codes and any operational systems established by the department.

May be required to meet operational requirements including working in extreme weather conditions or assisting with other teams, units, or departments at the various university campuses

Job Requirements

Education, Training and Experience:

  • Minimal 4th Class Power Engineer Certificate or Red Seal HVAC Technician

  • Grade 12 plus ten (5) years recent experience performing duties related to the position, including one (1) year in a similar role utilizing shop and hand tools, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Knowledge of WHMIS and OH&S Policy and procedures.

  • Possession of a valid Class 5 driver’s license in the province of BC.

  • Experience with- Digital Controls - HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing

  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management and Event Management Systems


Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally, in writing and by email.

  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.

  • Ability to operate equipment related to duties and work performed.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

  • General knowledge of procedures involved in work performed.

Additional Information
This position is regular full-time working 37.5 hours per week. The successful candidate must have the ability to work a variety of shifts including weekends.
