This position is required to work in person at various sites across the city. Work location is subject to change at the discretion of the City due to operational demands.
Position Overview
Reporting to the Senior Manager, RCC Facility Operations, this position is
responsible for the development, implementation and oversight of a
comprehensive service plan that mitigates risk, protects, and extends the life of
assets. Ensures the safe operation of Arenas, Pools, Community Centres,
Corporate, Specialty, and Joint Venture facilities in a cost-effective manner.
Provides project management, internal and external customer service, and
maintains working relationships with other service groups to support their end
goals.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Provide day-to-day service, issue management, and complaint resolution
for the public.
  • Oversee training programs to ensure staff are equipped to manage risks
and respond to emergencies effectively.
  • Monitor facility compliance with regulations and conduct regular audits,
inspections, and maintenance.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance plans for facilities.
  • Oversee capital improvement projects and collaborates with internal
teams to ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Supervision of staff including recruitment, training, and performance
management, fostering a positive work environment, and supporting
staff development.
  • Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to improve service
delivery and establish effective working relationships.
  • Represent the department and provide advice on operational issues,
coordinating responses and addressing concerns as needed.
  • Manage operating budgets and participate in budget planning for
facilities.
  • Monitor expenses, reconcile financial transactions, and oversee large
purchases, ensuring compliance with City policies. Develop and
implement strategies to improve financial performance including
mitigating budget risks and optimizing resource allocation.
  • Duties and responsibilities are inclusive but not limited to the above.
Requirements
The successful candidate will have a post-secondary diploma in Facility Management, Business Administration, or in a discipline related to facility operation and maintenance in combination with a minimum of four (4) to seven (7) years of related-experience, at least two (2) of which must be in a supervisory capacity. The following designations would be considered an asset; Certified Recreation Facilities Professional (CRFP), Certified Facility Manager (CFM), or a Facility Management Professional (FMP). Education in a non-related field may be considered an asset. Evening and weekend work as well as on call duty is required with this position
A valid G driver’s licence is required with an acceptable driver’s abstract (no more than three (3) driving related convictions or an accumulation of no more than three (3) demerit points in the previous three (3) years prior to the date of hire).
