Reporting into the Finance Controller, you support the finance team on all finance matters regarding customer payments, expense reports, all general ledger accounts, transaction documentation and more.

What you will be doing:

  • Financial Accounting: Reconcile financial statement, analyze variances, predict impact on the financial results and stakeholders.
  • Support all month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing:
  • Ensure proper coverage of all accruals, reconcile accounts and update SaaS metrics, review transactions, ensure compliance with reporting requirements. Monthly review of Revenue recognized and Deferred Revenue balances per ASPE.
  • Review transactions to ensure correct treatment, classification and appropriateness.
  • Prepare monthly variance analysis (month to month and actual to budget) to ensure the reasonability. Assisting team members as needed on the complex accounting treatments.
  • Assist in preparing annual financial statements in accordance with ASPE, ensure correct note disclosures and assess needs of stakeholders.
  • Financial Reporting & Analysis:
  • Prepare & share monthly budget variance analysis with the department owners
  • Payroll:
  • Prepare Payroll on Bi-weekly basis for the USA and Canada.
  • Ensuring compliance with Payroll requirements, addressing Internal/ External queries, creating support documents as required for the government.
  • Annual reconciliation of EHT, creation of Annual pay stubs and workers compensation for different provinces/ states.
  • Order Operations
  • Responsible for managing order operations.
  • Sales order operations involve the processes and activities related to managing and fulfilling customer orders. This includes order creation, approval, tracking, and ensuring timely delivery of products or services.
  • Other:
  • Oversees timely and accurate filing to government bodies (HST, WSIB, US sales taxes).
  • Support the ongoing development, improvement, and implementation of financial policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Support the annual audit as a key point of contact, identify areas of risk and identify and evaluate financial reporting requirements under ASPE.
  • Ad hoc and special projects (ie. software implementations, financial information migration, ensuring the new system adheres to accounting policies, cost saving initiatives, process improvement, etc.) as assigned.

What we're looking for:

  • 5+ years of full cycle accounting experience, including month-end reporting.
  • CPA is a must.
  • Prior experience of the software industry is an advantage
  • Knowledge of current accounting rules and regulations.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel & Google Suite.Solid technical and analytical skills with high degree of accuracy.
  • Communication skills to effectively and professionally correspond with customers, vendors and internal team members.
  • Experience with Netsuite, Staxbill, Rise, Gusto is an asset.
