About the team
We are seeking a Senior Accountant to be part of our claims and insurance accounting team. As part of this team you will be accountable to become an expert in claims and insurance accounting, partner with global operations teams, manage an off-shore BPO team, implement innovative technology and drive continuous process improvement initiatives. This is a highly visible and critical function on Turo’s accounting team which requires candidates to have strong accounting knowledge, communication, problem solving and data analysis capabilities.

What You’ll Do
● As a Senior Accountant you’ll be responsible for preparing and reviewing journal entries, reconciliations, variance analysis as part of month end close procedures for Turo’s claims and insurance activities.
● Supervise members of an offshore BPO team, provide training and perform detailed review to ensure work quality and all transactions are properly recorded.
● Own the claims model for estimating accruals including documenting assumptions, analyzing data trends and completing checklist procedures to ensure data completeness and accuracy.
● Partner closely with cross functional business partners to resolve issues and ensure proper accounting including assessing accounting implications for global insurance renewals.
● Develop new processes and find opportunities to improve the speed, accuracy and efficiency of the month end close timeline. Including but not limited to improving working schedules, reconciliations and quality of documentation.
● Lead critical accounting projects that improve the accuracy of our data for internal and external reporting.
● Provide ongoing support to internal and external audits including leading process walkthroughs, preparing PBCs and addressing audit inquiries.
Your Profile
● 4+ years of experience in general accounting; public accounting/audit experience at senior level, and/or senior accountant within a high-volume corporate environment.
● Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance and/or Business Administration.
● CPA with big 4 audit experience strongly preferred.
● Experience with NetSuite or another large-scale accounting system.
● Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (i.e. Pivot tables, V-lookups)
● Proven history of identifying problems and discrepancies, independently performing research and analysis and recommending corrective actions.
● Must be results-oriented, able to manage timelines and proactively communicate on-going issues to various team members.
● Comfortable picking up new tools and deepening your Excel & SQL skills through self-learning and on-the-job coaching.
● High attention to detail, critical thinking, problem solving and analytical skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
For this role, the target base salary range in San Francisco is $120,000 - $150,000 annually. This role is also eligible for equity and benefits. In general, our ranges reflect the market-based target for new hire salaries based on the level and location of the role. Within the range, individual pay is determined by objective factors assessed during the application and interview process, such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
