About the team:

The Director of Equity Plan Administration will work in close partnership with our People Ops, Accounting, and Legal teams to support us with scaling and refining the Turo equity administration function as the Company continues to grow.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for hands-on, end-to-end administration of the Company’s equity plan(s). You will support and collaborate with internal business partners, manage the company’s capitalization table, manage employee communications regarding equity grants, and design employee education and training regarding the company's equity plans.

What you will do:

  • Utilize your equity administration expertise to administer the company’s equity programs for all employees in the U.S. and internationally, including advising leadership on the design, roll out, and communication of new equity programs, as required.
  • Design and deliver employee education sessions for the global workforce to promote understanding of equity awards and programs, including general guidelines on taxation, in collaboration with Finance, Accounting, Legal, and People teams.
  • Manage efforts to grow and scale the equity plan administration function, including, but not limited to, implementing best practices with effective SOX controls, enhancing existing manual processes, automating processes, and helping to evaluate and manage service providers and equity solutions.
  • Lead efforts to automate routine work streams and manual processes to enable efficient, accurate, and timely processing of equity award data.
  • Maintain company’s equity data using cap table management systems and reconcile new hire grants and terminations to payroll records and employee databases.
  • Prepare internal reporting including equity grant status for executives, People Ops team, and Compensation Committee.
  • Process and manage stock transactions for employees and coordinate with transfer agent and Accounting/Payroll team to ensure accuracy and timely flow of exercise funds, including tax withholding in various countries.
  • Support accounting for stock based compensation and quarterly and annual footnote disclosures by providing equity information and making necessary updates to cap table management systems.
  • Coordinate with Payroll team to calculate equity-related employee compensation including regular income and gains from ISO, Non-Qualified and RSU grants and ensure proper withholding of tax from equity proceeds.
  • Manage ongoing and annual IRS filings and international filings related to stock compensation as required. Manage 10B-5 plans as required.
  • Assist Legal in the preparation of SEC filings, including Section 16 filings and stock-related sections of 10-Qs, 10-Ks, and proxy statements.
  • Perform other duties and ad hoc projects and reporting as requested.

Your profile:

  • Minimum 8+ years of relevant work experience working in equity plan administration, including at least 4 years at a publicly traded U.S. company. Public company readiness experience preferred.
  • Experience with Shareworks strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related work experience.
  • Certified Equity Professional (CEP) certification required.
  • An effective communicator using any medium with a variety of levels of internal employees, business partners, external vendors, etc.
  • A compliance and process-oriented individual who is self-motivated, reliable, flexible and can excel in a fast-paced and evolving environment with minimal supervision.
  • Able to maintain strict confidentiality in a very open and transparent environment.
  • Must be aligned with our Turo values of being grounded, expressive, bold, and driven.

The San Francisco base salary target range for this full-time position is $180,000 - $215,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position in this location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
