About the team

Data is our fuel at Turo. It is ever-more abundant and valuable, but it's raw material. Harnessed by data analysts, data scientists, and machine learning engineers, it propels Turo on its mission to put the world’s 1.5+ billion cars to better use, delighting our customers with matching the right car for their next adventure from an exceptionally diverse selection, and at the same time helping our marketplace remain safe.

You are a creative and rigorous data scientist with 4+ years of experience, excited to solve meaningful business problems. You are comfortable with a range of statistical and machine learning techniques with the ability to creatively apply them to our problems. Modeling is your thing, you are proficient in translating unstructured business problems into mathematical frameworks, and propose scalable solutions.

You have a passion for consumer products, shipping code, and data focused experiments. You are excited to play a key role in crafting the product from inception to implementation and beyond.

What you will do

  • Work closely with engineers, product managers and other data scientists to develop algorithms and drive key product and modeling decisions.
  • Lead the end-to-end process of conceptualizing, developing, deploying, and analyzing models.
  • Present your insights and suggestions to audiences of all levels in the company.
  • Dedicatedly perform explorations of data and algorithms to improve our models.
  • Own the data quality of your projects including training, test and experiment data.
  • Research the best metrics; design and validate experiments to measure model performance.
  • Develop the explainability of models

Your profile

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in a Data-Science role
  • Deep understanding of mathematical methods in statistics, optimization, and machine learning. Demonstrable experience applying these methods to real world prediction problems (classification, regression, recommendation systems, time series).
  • Strongly self-motivated with a keen eye for detail. A natural desire to learn and innovate with like-minded colleagues.
  • Fluent in a production-ready programming language such as Python. Ability to deploy and scale models into a production environment collaborating with engineers.
  • Fluent in common data science tools (e.g. scikit-learn, numpy, pandas) in Python/R (preferred).
  • Fluent in SQL, ability to efficiently query large datasets.
  • Strong communication skills in French and English

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in experiment design and analysis.
  • Experience with AWS data warehouses and services,
  • Experience with Airflow.

La modélisation est votre point fort, vous êtes capable de traduire des problèmes business non structurés en modèles mathématiques et de proposer des solutions scalables.

Vous avec un fort intérêt pour les expérimentations data et le développement de code de qualité. Vous êtes enthousiaste à l'idée de jouer un rôle clé dans l'élaboration du produit, de sa conception à sa mise en œuvre et au-delà.

Ce que vous ferez

  • Prendre en charge les projets Data Science de bout en bout de la conceptualisation, du développement, du déploiement et de l’analyse de la performance des modèles.
  • Présenter vos idées et recommandations à des publics de tous niveaux au sein de l'entreprise.
  • Améliorer nos modèles existants
  • Être responsable de la qualité des données liées à vos projets, en particulier les données d'entraînement et de test.
  • Rechercher les meilleures métriques ; concevoir et valider des tests pour mesurer les performances des modèles.
  • Travailler en étroite collaboration avec des Data-engineers, des product managers et d'autres data scientists pour développer des algorithmes et piloter des décisions clés en matière de produit et de modélisation.
  • Assurer la veille sur les algorithmes ou de nouvelles bibliothèques.

Votre profil

  • Minimum 4 ans d'expérience en tant que Data-Scientist
  • Maitrise des méthodes statistiques et de machine learning. Expérience validée dans l'application de ces méthodes à des problèmes dans le monde réel (classification, régression, systèmes de recommandation, séries chronologiques).
  • Forte motivation personnelle avec un sens aigu du détail. Un désir naturel d'apprendre et d'innover.
  • Maîtrise d'un langage de programmation compatible avec la mise en production, tel que Python. Capacité à déployer et à mettre à l'échelle des modèles dans un environnement de production en collaborant avec des Data-engineers.
  • Maîtrise des outils de Data-Science (par exemple scikit-learn, numpy, pandas) en Python
  • Maîtrise de SQL, capacité à requêter efficacement de grands ensembles de données.
  • Solides compétences en communication en français et en anglais.
