Position Summary:
Reporting to the Senior People and Culture Business Partner, we are seeking a proactive, detail-oriented, and people-first HR Generalist to join our dynamic People & Culture team. This is a high-impact role ideal for someone looking to expand their HR capabilities across both operational and strategic dimensions. You’ll support core HR processes while also contributing to broader People programs typically championed by HR Business Partners.
You will be a key go-to for day-to-day HR needs—from onboarding and employee engagement to systems management and compliance—while supporting initiatives related to performance, immigration, total rewards, and organizational culture. The ideal candidate is approachable, resourceful, and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
This is an 18-month fixed-term position based out of our Mount Pleasant office in Vancouver, operating under a hybrid work model with three in-office days per week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Onboarding & Orientation
- Own and continuously improve the onboarding process in collaboration with IT, office operations, and hiring managers.
- Lead orientation sessions to embed new hires into the company culture and ensure understanding of HR policies and procedures.
- Ensure accurate and timely updates to the Payroll team for all onboarding and employment status changes.
- Employee Relations & Engagement
- Act as the first point of contact for employee questions, concerns, and feedback, providing timely and empathetic support.
- Proactively support employee engagement strategies in partnership with the P&C team.
- Assist in initial employee relations cases and escalate complex matters appropriately, ensuring proper documentation and follow-through.
- HR Operations & Compliance
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records in BambooHR and other HR platforms.
- Support policy implementation and communication, including leaves of absence, global mobility, and hybrid work practices.
- Ensure compliance with applicable employment laws and regulations across multiple jurisdictions.
- Participate in key internal committees (e.g., Occupational Health & Safety and Legal Privacy).
- Assist with the annual performance cycle, including communications, support system setup, and tracking.
- Support documentation for internal mobility and promotions.
- HR Business Partner Support
- Support end-to-end immigration and visa processes, including document tracking, liaison with counsel, and employee communication.
- Collaborate with HRBPs on policy updates, audit preparation, and HR communications.
- Maintain a resolution-focused mindset in handling escalations, ensuring employee concerns are addressed professionally and empathetically.
- HR Systems & Tools Ownership
- Maintain and optimize the following platforms:
- Bonusly – recognition and engagement.
- BambooHR – HRIS data integrity, workflows, and reporting.
- Jira – HR ticketing and request management.
- Confluence – HR policy library and internal documentation.
- Total Rewards & Benefits
- Serve as a secondary contact for employee benefits questions in partnership with the Benefits Administrator.
- Support communications related to total rewards programs, changes, and annual enrollment cycles.
- Track benefit-related employee data and changes, ensuring alignment between HRIS and benefits carriers.
- HR Analytics & Reporting
- Generate and analyze recurring HR metrics (e.g., headcount, turnover, DEIB data, engagement scores).
- Provide insights and dashboards to support people strategy decisions and presentations.
Skills & Qualifications:
- 2–4 years of experience in an HR Generalist capacity.
- Strong understanding of HR fundamentals with growing exposure to strategic HR topics.
- Experience supporting or partnering with HRBPs is a strong asset.
- Familiarity with employment legislation across Canadian and/or U.S. jurisdictions.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong problem-solving, initiative, and critical thinking skills to proactively find solutions
- Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a high-growth environment.
