Are you passionate about building models, uncovering insights, and influencing change within a business? We’re looking for a Senior Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Analyst to join us at Thinkific.
The Senior FP&A Analyst will provide valuable reports, information, and insights for Thinkific. Building models, interpreting data, and communicating conclusions back to the business in an easily digestible manner will be key to this role. Reporting to the Senior Director, FP&A, you will analyze financial and operational data from various systems across the business to highlight risks, opportunities, and recommendations.
Your goal will be to analyze key financial and SaaS metrics to monitor company health and performance. Here’s how you’ll accomplish this:
- Partner with business leaders to align financial plans with strategic goals, providing insights, identifying risks and opportunities, and recommending actions.
- Develop, maintain, and improve financial models to forecast performance, evaluate ROI, and support decision-making across the company.
- Own and deliver key financial reports, ensuring they are accurate, timely, and useful for executives, Board members, and other stakeholders.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and planning cycles for specific business areas, working cross-functionally to keep them accurate and up to date with input from partners.
- Analyze financial and operational data to identify trends, drive efficiency, and guide resource allocation.
- Communicate financial insights clearly and persuasively, tailoring messages to different audiences and helping shape strategic decisions.
- Mentor junior analysts and enhance team workflows, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and high-quality analysis.
The person we have in mind likely:
- Has at least 5 years of experience in an FP&A or similar role
- Holds a professional designation (CPA, CFA, CBV) or an MBA
- Has experience working in the tech industry with strong knowledge of key SaaS metrics
- Is able to work both autonomously and in a team environment
- Is curious and passionate about understanding the drivers behind the numbers
- Has the capacity to learn quickly and execute confidently in a rapidly changing, fast-paced environment
- Can naturally communicate complex financial concepts in a way that their audience can easily understand
- Has confidence with technical accounting knowledge of financial statements
- Knows how to be resourceful in finding solutions to problems and overcoming barriers
- Loves to learn and grow. You’ve found (and keep looking for) ways to level up their skills in this field, whether that’s through formal education, gaining professional experience, or maybe even building their own business
These things would also be nice, but we think you could learn them on the job:
- A track record of creating management-level financial performance reports and experience with systems outside of Excel to help build financial models
- A passion for data, models, forecasting, and finding out the "why", including experience working with a data warehouse
- Experience with Workday and Workday Adaptive
- SQL and Looker
The recruitment compensation range for this position is $90,000 - $120,000 CAD
