Do you excel at crafting content strategies that make products intuitive and engaging for users? We’re looking for a Staff Content Strategist to join our team at Thinkific.
As a Staff Content Strategist, you will develop content strategies that enhance the overall product experience, making it intuitive, engaging, and user-centric. You’ll be instrumental in establishing the content strategy function for a product loved by tens of thousands of creator educators. You'll lead the creation of design standards, frameworks, processes, and benchmarks for content strategy and execution, while also building a team to support excellence in this area. Reporting to the Head of Experience Design, you’ll work closely with UX designers, UX researchers, product managers, and developers to ensure that content supports product functionality, guides users seamlessly, and fosters a cohesive brand experience.
Your goal will be to enhance the user experience through clear, consistent, and user-centered content. Here’s how you’ll accomplish this:
- UX Content Strategy: Lead, develop, and implement content strategies that enhance the product’s user experience, focusing on clarity, usability, and consistency throughout the user journey
- UX Writing: Set standards, review, and optimize product copy, including microcopy (error messages, tooltips, labels), onboarding guides, product tutorials, and in-app content to improve user engagement and task completion.
- User Research: Collaborate with UX researchers to understand user needs, pain points, and behaviors. Use insights to shape content that helps users achieve their goals more effectively.
- Content Mapping & User Journeys: Create content frameworks and guidelines aligned with user flows, ensuring content is tailored to each stage of the product experience (e.g., onboarding, feature discovery, and troubleshooting)
- Information Architecture (IA): Partner with UX and product teams to structure content that supports intuitive navigation and information hierarchy within the product
- Collaboration with UX Design: Work closely with UX designers to align content with visual design, ensuring both elements work together to create a seamless and cohesive user experience
- Consistency and Brand Voice: Ensure content maintains a consistent tone and style across the product, aligning with overall brand voice and guidelines throughout the customer journey
- Evaluative Testing & Content Iteration: Conduct and analyze evaluative tests on different content strategies to improve user comprehension, engagement, and product usability
- Documentation & Guidelines: Create and maintain a content style guide and UX writing documentation to ensure consistency and quality across all product-related content
The person we have in mind likely:
- Has at least 5 years of dedicated content strategy experience, much of it in a product-focused environment
- Possesses a strong portfolio demonstrating their ability to lead content strategy and enable outcomes
- Has proven experience working closely with UX design and product teams.
- Is experienced with user research methods and applying research insights to content strategies
- Understands user-centered design principles, information architecture, and interaction design
- Has experience creating, implementing, and maintaining content standards across an organization
- Loves to learn and grow. They’ve found (and keep looking for) ways to level up their skills in this field, whether that’s through formal education, gaining professional experience, or maybe even building their own business
These things would also be nice, but we think you could learn them on the job:
- Experience leading people, reviewing processes, and establishing quality benchmarks.
- Experience with localization and content strategy for global audiences.
- Strong understanding of accessibility standards and how they impact content.
The recruitment compensation range for this position is $139,000 - 172,000 CAD. Your specific compensation within this range is determined based on your job-related skills, knowledge, experience, and our internal equity assessment.
