Are you a Front End Engineer with a few years of experience looking for new challenges? Are you passionate about Design Systems and accessibility standards? Does the idea of joining a rapidly growing tech company excite you? If yes, we’re looking for an Intermediate Front End Engineer to join us at Thinkific.

As an Intermediate Front End Engineer, you will use your HTML, CSS and Javascript knowledge to build accessible, responsive, clean, easy-to-use web UI across Thinkific’s app and properties. You’ll work closely with our highly talented Designers and Engineers to improve our existing product and explore alternatives for new features and functionality. You must know and be comfortable with soliciting, receiving, and providing feedback. We have a highly engaged company that cares deeply about our customers — customer feedback is a major input in what you do.

Here’s how you’ll accomplish this:

  • Develop and maintain accessible components in a Design System
  • Write documentation and guidelines for Design System’s components
  • Work closely with Product Teams to support them in the Design System usage
  • Test components with assistive-technologies users
  • Triage and fix bugs in our existing components
  • Code review the code of your fellow Engineers
  • Work in migrations of existing code to React

The person we have in mind likely:

  • Has 3+ years of experience working in a front-end development role
  • Possesses a technical and practical understanding of Web technologies in general
  • Has experience developing SPA using the latest JavaScript APIs, language features, and frameworks/libraries like React, Angular and Vue
  • Has demonstrated experience with HTML, CSS, CSS and an understanding of its best practices
  • Displays the ability to implement pixel-perfect designs while maintaining stylistic consistency
  • Is comfortable writing tests using testing frameworks
  • Has excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Loves to learn and grow. They’ve found (and keep looking for) ways to level up their skills in this field, whether that’s through formal education, gaining professional experience, or maybe even building their own business

These things would also be nice, but we think you could learn them on the job:

  • You consider accessibility as a first-class concern
  • You are comfortable testing components with assistive technologies users
  • You believe that better solutions are achieved via collaboration rather than independently
  • Have read our How we build at Thinkific blog and are excited about how we work, Blue Sky Week and the challenges we are solving for our customers
  • Are driven to continually improve by investing time in learning about new technologies or working on your own projects
  • “Organized, with attention to detail” doesn’t even begin to describe you. You’ll have a lot of responsibility and autonomy—no one will look over your shoulder to be sure you’ve got it right! A keen eye for detail is key in everything you do—quality over quantity is the name of the game.

The recruitment compensation range for this position is $89,000 - $111,000 CAD

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging & Accessibility

This is just our initial idea of who we’re looking for! At Thinkific, we know that people have unique career journeys. If your experience is close to what we’ve described but you feel that you might be missing a few of the requirements, please still apply! We believe in equal opportunity and are committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging across every facet of our business.

We’re also committed to providing a comfortable and accessible interview experience for every candidate. If there are any accommodations our team can make throughout our hiring process (big or small), please let us know.
