Are you passionate about building transformative talent and people programs that will shape performance management, competency and leadership development initiatives? We’re looking for a Senior People Development Specialist to join us at Thinkific for a 16 month contract.

As a Senior People Development Specialist - Organizational Development (16 month contract) at Thinkific, you will champion our organizational development programs by designing, implementing and facilitating development and training programs. You will partner closely with senior stakeholders and work collaboratively with our People team to ensure programming meets organizational needs. Reporting to our VP, People, you will be a champion for change, representing stakeholders of all levels, while driving initiatives to support a culture of engaged, high-performing teams.

The successful candidate will work in a hybrid model, with a combination of in-office and flexible location work (ideally living within reasonable commuting distance of our Vancouver office).

Your goal will be to lead and champion Thinkific’s people performance programs. Here’s how you will accomplish this:

  • Collaborate with department stakeholders in the development of competency and career frameworks, performance management systems, and leadership development initiatives
  • Direct and lead performance review and goal-setting cycles in partnership with the VP, People, and create supportive training materials
  • Support the job evaluation and calibration processes and partner with the People team for workforce and succession planning
  • Use team member feedback (engagement survey results, performance reviews, etc.) to gather data insights, analyze and make recommendations to stakeholders on the development of people programs, culture, and employee experience.
  • Manage and collect data from internal tools like Lattice and CultureAmp to support program and business objectives
  • Be proactive and take initiative to recognize issues and concerns across people programs to prevent long-term problems

The person we have in mind likely:

  • Has 6+ years of experience in a People Development Specialist, Organizational Development, or Talent Change Management role; or in a similar position in a fast-paced environment
  • Has a proven track record of developing and managing people performance programs, while supporting ongoing change management objectives
  • Demonstrates excellent project management skills and a tendency to be organized, with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy — they can lead and manage both small and large-scale programs with tight timelines and multiple stakeholders
  • Possesses strong business acumen with proven ability to align business needs with people solutions in an agile and transformative environment
  • Is a collaborative team player who is action-oriented and eager to tackle difficult issues and provide solutions, ideas and recommendations
  • Uses their excellent communication skills to clearly convey complex ideas to a variety of stakeholders
  • Demonstrates a high level of resourcefulness. They don’t expect (or need) step-by-step answers to work toward high-level goals – they find creative solutions to problems, and are comfortable adapting when they receive new information
  • Uses their strong writing and facilitation skills to build presentations and documentation to influence engagement
  • Loves to learn and grow. They’ve found (and keep looking for) ways to level up their skills in this field, whether that’s through formal education, gaining professional experience, or maybe even building their own business

These things would also be nice, but we think you could learn them on the job:

  • Previous experience with Lattice, CultureAmp, Asana, Guru, and Google Suite
  • Familiarity with Radical Candor and being on board with this approach to delivering feedback
  • An ease to strike a balance between taking work seriously and having a sense of humour—you feel that the old view people have of “HR” needs to change!

This is just our initial idea of who we’re looking for! At Thinkific, we know that people have unique career journeys. If your experience is close to what we’ve described but you feel that you might be missing a few of the requirements, please still apply! We’re also committed to providing a comfortable and accessible interview process for every candidate. If there are any accommodations our team can make throughout our hiring process (big or small), please let us know.
