The Logic is hiring two general assignment reporters to cover business and technology.
About The Logic:
The Logic is a leading source of business and technology news in Canada, offering subscribers in-depth reporting on the businesses, people and policies that move the country forward.
Founded in 2018, we are backed by the Financial Times, with headquarters in Toronto and bureaus in Vancouver, Calgary, Ottawa and Montreal. The Logic’s award-winning original journalism which includes a suite of newsletters and a slate of in-person and virtual events, reaches hundreds of thousands of Canadians and is syndicated to a global audience of financial professionals. Our subscribers are at the centre of everything we do. We believe Canadian journalism has a bright future.
About the roles:
The general assignment reporter will cover a range of business and technology news. They will pitch, report and write stories on tight deadlines, and chase breaking news as assigned by The Logic's editors. They will pitch longer-term assignments, and partner with colleagues on team projects.
The successful candidates will ideally have some business journalism experience, but we welcome applications from journalists who have done first-rate work covering other subjects. They will be enterprising self-starters, adept at developing sources to help them break news. They will have an interest both in high-stakes boardroom decision-making and in the impact those decisions make on people’s everyday lives. They will be comfortable finding stories in public filings, data sets and access-to-information returns. They will be excellent writers who take as much pride in contributing to our daily newsletter as they do in writing news stories and features. They will be active partners in The Logic’s virtual and in-person live journalism events. And they will be committed to building a collegial, collaborative newsroom that treats all its members with respect.
These are full-time staff jobs. One of these positions will be based in Toronto, where The Logic offers a hybrid work arrangement. The other may be based in Toronto or any other major Canadian city.
