TextNow is looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our Core Product engineering team, which is responsible for delivering world-class messaging and calling features for our users. You will work with a talented team of iOS and Android engineers, guiding them in developing scalable, high-performance applications. This role requires a strong technical background, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for building innovative communication solutions.
What You'll Do
- Lead and mentor a team of iOS and Android engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
- Drive technical excellence in messaging and calling features, ensuring best practices in architecture, performance, and reliability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product, Design, and QA, to define and deliver high-quality features that enhance user experience.
- Oversee the development lifecycle, from planning and design to execution, deployment, and monitoring.
- Provide technical guidance on real-time communication technologies such as WebRTC, SIP, and VoIP frameworks.
- Champion best practices in software engineering, including code reviews, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Act as a thought leader in mobile engineering, staying current with industry trends and emerging technologies.
- Balance strategic planning with hands-on technical involvement to drive impactful product development.
- Drive a culture of ownership and accountability, ensuring the team is aligned with business objectives and user needs
Who You Are
- An experienced Engineering Manager with 5+ years of leadership experience managing iOS and/or Android development teams.
- A strong technical background with at least 5+ years of hands-on experience in mobile development (iOS, Android, or both).
- Proficient in Swift, Kotlin, Objective-C, or Java, with a deep understanding of mobile architectures and best practices.
- Experienced in real-time communication technologies such as WebRTC, SIP, XMPP, or similar.
- Skilled in building and scaling messaging and calling features, with a strong understanding of push notifications, background tasks, and network management.
- Passionate about coaching and mentoring engineers, helping them grow their skills and careers.
- Adept at working in a fast-paced environment, making data-driven decisions, and delivering impactful solutions.
- A strong communicator who can articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experienced in Agile methodologies, with a track record of delivering complex projects on time and within scope.
