TextNow is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead our cross-functional iOS and Android engineering teams. As an Engineering Manager for Cross-Platform Mobile, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the overall app experience, ensuring seamless and exceptional user interactions on both iOS (Objective-C and Swift) and Android (Java and Kotlin) platforms. What You'll Do
- Lead and mentor a cross-functional team of iOS and Android engineers, fostering collaboration and high performance
- Empower team members to take ownership of tasks and projects
- Create a culture of accountability where team members take responsibility for their work and outcomes
- Provide technical leadership for cross-platform mobile development, ensuring excellence in both iOS (Objective-C and Swift) and Android (Java and Kotlin) platforms
- Bring expansive technical knowledge and experience with application design on iOS and Android platforms
- Engage in constructive conflict, encouraging open and honest discussions for better decision-making
- Lead by example and nurture talent in your cross-functional team, focusing on the growth of both iOS and Android developers
- Inspire, motivate and energize the team
- Seek innovative ways to unleash new cross-platform mobile experiences
Who You Are
- Openness to learning from others and fostering an environment where diverse perspectives are valued
- Track record of building amazing cross-platform mobile products while scaling talented teams
- Extensive experience optimizing iOS and Android applications for various devices, considering factors like screen size, processor capabilities, and memory constraints
- Experience delivering highly scalable, consumer-facing product experiences with demonstrated iOS and Android development experience (Swift/Objective-C for iOS, Java/Kotlin for Android)
- Capable of partnering with other engineering and product leaders to define, deliver, and implement scalable strategies for cross-platform product launches and business initiatives
- Proven experience growing employees through career development, coaching, and mentoring, with a commitment to developing both iOS and Android team members
- Ability to lead and grow a cross-functional team of passionate engineers
- Collaborator on roadmaps with Product Managers, Architects, and Tech Leads to ensure clear direction and priorities for the cross-platform team
- Sets and upholds rigorous benchmarks for engineering excellence while fostering an environment that encourages open and candid discussions with respect
- Demonstrated mastery of modern design patterns (MVC, MVVM, TCA) using both Objective-C and Swift, and proficiency in modern design patterns (MVC, MVVM, Clean Architecture) using Java and Kotlin
- Proven ability to architect scalable and maintainable iOS and Android applications with an emphasis on code modularity and reusability
- Humble and Self-aware leader who recognizes and embraces the collective intelligence of their team
