This is a Full-time 16-month role commencing May 2026

For this role in Oakville, Ontario, The hourly wage range for this position is CAD $25 to $35 per hour. The actual wage offered will be determined based on factors such as education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, applicable market data for the work location, and internal equity considerations.

Come join us at Terrestrial Energy, a US developer of advanced, Generation IV nuclear reactors. We are growing our workforce to develop and deploy our Integral Molten Salt Reactor (IMSR) small modular nuclear plant to provide cost-competitive, clean firm heat and power to industry.

The Company has recently completed a merger creating a publicly listed operating company (NASDAQ “IMSR”), to secure the capital resources for our next growth phase. With the current alignment of US Federal and State government, as well as industry interest in Small Modular Reactor (SMR) and advanced reactor technologies such as Terrestrial Energy’s IMSR, there is today a unique and compelling opportunity to participate in the execution of the company’s growth business plan.

The Instrumentation and Control Engineering Intern, reporting to the Instrumentation, Control and Electrical Manager, is primarily responsible for aiding the Instrumentation and Control team in the design, development and analysis of instrumentation and control systems for the Integral Molten Salt Reactor technology.

Other Responsibilities Include:

  • Prepare I&C engineering design documents including; logic diagrams, calculations, analysis and assessment documents for the development of system and equipment design.
  • Communicate and work with various technical disciplines to understand system design(s) and interfacing requirements.
  • Contribute to timely resolution of instrumentation and control design challenges and address risks.
  • Conduct research for design development and optimization.
  • Conduct presentations to interdisciplinary teams and external parties.
  • Interface with external vendors, experts and design agencies.
  • Gather and analyze data from simulations to support design validation, ensuring accuracy and alignment with project requirements.
  • Exposure to nuclear design concepts, principles, regulations, codes and standards.

Requirements:

Education

  • Actively working towards a post-secondary degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics or in a related field. Senior students preferred.

Experience

  • Academic or co-op experience in engineering design, analysis, or technical documentation
  • Exposure to instrumentation and control concepts through coursework, projects, or internships

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to read and understand technical documentation and engineering drawings
  • Clear technical writing and documentation skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Flexibility to adjust to shifting priorities and deadlines

Assets:

  • Entrepreneurship or other experience demonstrating self-motivation and problem solving.
  • Experience with or knowledge of nuclear power.
